Because miles will be harder to earn starting 2015, I suspect they will consequently be easier to spend, both in the form of cheaper award flights (4500 miles one way for SJC-LAX, Avios-esque), and increased award availability (UA-esque).

Wait, what am I smoking?

Availability will be the key. If we find it easier to actually find low-tier award flights the change in SkyMiles won't be as bad.

Here's my prediction for coach tiers:
Lowest 10k Each Way
Low 12,500 Each Way
Mid 15,000 Each way
High 20,000 Each way
Highest 25,000 each way

I have no insight, I'm just taking a wild stab.

I have not had a peak at new chart, but think a little too optimistic on high end.

I believe I saw in the WSJ article covering this that the lowest award would remain at 25K round trip.

I have all but given up hope both on bloggers (not just Delta Points by any stretch) and on many forum posters to have any decent grasp of the English language. Another grammatical blunder appeared on this thread too. It is truly hopeless, and you see from two people making a mistake on the same word

I think you are too low both on the "lowest" and the "highest." My guess is that lowest and highest will remain the same or very close to the same and the two extra tiers will be in between low/medium and medium/high.

IOW, Delta wanted to keep people hanging on, spending money with them, before they found it their SMs were going to be worth much less than before.

Well it seems I'm still I la la land. I actually was picturing that as a possibility. At least Heros is coming back to NBC.

Let's take a look at this blog post and strip out some of the fluff ...
Word today three different people had shared with me by the end of the day is that Delta had changed its mind and plans to release its award charts tomorrow.

They could still pull back, but it was definitely the word from inside Delta that they were looking at this.

...

Assuming the charts come out tomorrow (or Friday)
What an absolutely useless piece of information ... they're looking at releasing it tomorrow ... or maybe Friday ... or any other day in the future.

I'm guessing
RT:
25k
37.5k
50k
62.5k
75k

But honestly I'm worried I'm too optimistic.

Could be 25-40-55-70-85 or something
