Well as Bob Kupbens has said on 10.21.2010 in regards to DL.dum....

"it's not working like we want"; "we know it"; and "we're working on it".

But that was ONLY three years ago. Oh.

I'm sure it's down because of all the upgrades they're installing to make the Award Calendar function properly. RIGHT?

Looks like the website and iPhone app are back up again. At least for now.

AJC: Delta's booking website, apps in and out

The hometown newspaper is reporting that the website and apps are up and down:

Atlanta Journal Constitution:
Delta Air Lines’ booking website, apps in and out

Updated: 6:34 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013

A short quote:

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines’ booking website and mobile applications were temporarily unavailable to customers Thursday, experiencing outages at least twice during the day.

The online operations experienced outages around 11 a.m. and then again later in the day after 5 p.m. before being restored. In both instances, the carrier said the problems were due to server issues, but it did not provide any specifics.

I wanted to book a one-way ticket but couldn't do so online. Went to the ticket counter and the airport and the guy charged $35 ticketing fee.

Pretty upset about it, considering the website is down and I couldn't book the ticket online.

What's your take on this?

What did he say when you told him that you couldn't book it online due to the website being offline?

I go to delta.com pretty much every day--sometimes several times a day--and these problems today are hardly a regular occurrence. I've had bank and credit card websites have problems sporadically, as well. This sort of stuff happens--technology, just like people, sometimes breaks down.

Most companies do not encourage buying their products on the website and penalize you fairly heavily when you don't like airlines do. So we are talking apples and oranges comparison here. Then when they charge their customers a fee for buying tickets at the airport when they can't buy them online - no excuse for that. Sorry, your argument doesn't hold much weight.

Other airlines have had their operations control center go down, causing disruptions and cancellations. I'm guessing you wouldn't rather have that.

Hey, Delta isn't perfect, I'm not either. Are you?

I agree with the above sentiment. The DL IT boys have been stretched thin of late helping with the launch of Healthcare.gov

Please save that stuff for OMNI P/R. I hate getting politics thrown around in the airline forums; it poisons the well. There are ample threads in P/R for discussing the launch of healthcare.gov.

Looked to me more like a funny, throwaway line. Not politics.

I don't think its politics... its a valid and humorous comparison, since Delta's IT is like a punching bag for jokes.

People need to lighten up.

App still not updating from 3:45 pm EST (10/17) to
now 8:07 pm PST (10/18). Just called Delta support.
Super nice. Acknowledged IT issues, may take
up to 48 hrs to confirm flight being taken
and appropriate MQM's (etc) accrued.

Sigh!
