Yeah, that's it ... for 787 assemblies, mainly. I have a video of it landing and taking off at Everett somewhere around here.

Do they complete the 787s in Washington State? I thought I saw a number of completed 787s parked by CHS last December (maybe Air India jets)?

I'm just amazed they can go from a fuselage on a train to rolling out a finished frame (maybe no interior yet) in 12 days? I know they crank out about 1 plane per day, but figured the assembly process would take longer. Then again, I guess Boeing is quite efficient at making 737s since they have >40 years experience building them.

I am too - but I think the green stuff is a protector of sorts. It is almost like cling film (but thicker). Wouldn't think it protects against hail or other impact but I guess works well enough.

Probably enough to keep the bugs and dirt off so as not to affect painting later.

Alrighty! Just about time! I wait for a long time. I can't wait to fly. Looking forward to it. I bet they're exciting to fly on newest 737-900ER aircraft.

Most of them are done in Everett (same place as 777 and 747). Some are assembled in Charleston. Charleston actually builds some of the components (mid body and aft body, I think) that get shipped to Everett, but Charleston also does final assembly. And yes, you would have seen Air India planes there late 2012.

If you think about it, though, how much better is another jet protected while it's in service? Probably less protected.

Quick update:

There she is in the Renton, WA factory currently.

Delta plans to place the first few aircraft into service in early November, with initial routes to be flown between Atlanta, Los Angeles, Detroit and San Francisco.

It looks very long. What's the difference in length between this and the 757s?

No 2L boarding...

I have read about Boeing having to repair gunshot holes in the fuselage.

Will the -900ER have the BSI? Hope so...

While exciting to see the -900ER's long fuselage....long live the Flying Footlong Frankfurter (757-300)!!!
