It's not the length of the fuselage, it's the thrust of the engines.

*chortle*

I am just fascinated by the logistics (and politics) involved in this type of manufacturing. It is one thing to move widgets, but an aircraft fuselage takes a lot more planning.

is this the one that's going to have the CRJ-sized lavs?

I live near the train route these take. It is always cool to see three or four fuselages in a row; each on their own rail car.

Here is what appears to be a 800 waiting on a side rail.

 Thanks for sharing. What a cool thing to see.

I'm kind of surprised they don't cover up the shipment more...

Try moving the Space Shuttle through the streets of LA from LAX to USC.

Check out this month's Civil Engineering magazine. The cover story describes all of the logistics involved in transporting the Space Shuttle Endeavor -- something that weighs as much as a fully-loaded 767-300 -- from a hangar at LAX out to a science museum near downtown LA.

(and to make this post Delta-related, the Endeavor has a Delta-shaped wing. ;) )

Not quite that small, but close. I also wonder how long its going to take to board or deplane. Thats one long walk of shame to the last rows.

It's certainly no worse than the 752 or 753.

Except there is no 2L door.

737-900er (739?) is only 8 ft longer than the standard 738. that's 6%. Walking to row 40 vs row 43 will hardly make a difference.

They fly sections of the 787 fuselage section from CHS to Washington State with 1 of 3 special 747s. They also fly in he 787 wings from Japan, I believe.

Is this the 'special' 747? I have seen this thing at MIA before....what an odd looking aircraft!!!!
