I think I got an opt in email when Pre came to MCO, but my wife, also a GM, never did anything but has always gotten the 3 beeps. I've been Silver this year, but continue to get Pre (with one miss). No Global or any other programs.

Had a different experience returning from BOS last week. A "checker" at the beginning of the Pre line looked at our boarding passes and said it doesn't say Pre so you have to go to the Priority line. I explained that checking in at the counter doesn't give you the Pre on the boarding pass, but that we qualified. She was confused, but gave in and we proceeded through the Pre line and both got the 3 beeps.

If you are in the US and not through DL - it might be a name issue on your flyer information in DL.dumb. Seems to be the trend for others around here.

Smile Verify your Names Match

Big thing that needs to be done is what has been said above -- make sure that your names actually match!

I got preCheck years ago when it was first launched as a PM; however, over the years I NEVER got the wondrous "triple beep." Only this year has it started; and I note the change happened immediately upon making a change to my SM Profile. It seems that someone my SM Profile had me listed as "FIRSTNAME MIDDLE NAME" / MIDDLENAME / LASTNAME in each field, with the first and middle listed in the same field that first section with the middle name repeated in the middle name field. It took many, many calls to DL IT to get it fixed, but once my name was corrected to FIRSTNAME / MIDDLENAME / LASTNAME all in separate fields, I have gotten the "triple beep" every single time that I have gone through security...

And the kicker is, I was a mere FO at the time -- alas, not as much travel this year dropped me down to a lowly FO, but then this July I got notice from AMEX that due to an AMEX SNAFU, I was bumped up to Gold for the remainder of the term ... but that is an entirely different happy story

TSA Precheck Help

So long as your name info is what is on your ID you should be good, right? I'm GM but haven't received PreCheck at all

Couple data points: My name appears one way on my DL profile and another way in the Secure Data field, but I do get Pre-Check on every flight. There seems to be a glitch for some of us involving the first name and middle initial being smashed together in the first name block without a space between them that works for DL but not for TSA. Those that have had the issue have usually been fine with Pre-Check for a long time but suddenly find it not working on any flights. The important thing does not appear to be having the same name in both fields.

Also, I was in the original group that didn't even need to opt in by email. I was pointed into that line after the initial BP check on the first day Pre-Check was offered in ATL. A TSA agent told me there was a group that was automatically enrolled because their data had actually been used in TSA's setting up Pre-Check. While I don't know if that is true, that is what I was told when I was amazed to be ushered through the line when I had not received the opt-in email.

If my passport shows First Middle Last, but my Driver's License shows First Last, which one do I enter in the Secure Flight Info?

Not sure how you enrolled in Pre Check, but it's basically more important that your name on your frequent flyer account match TSA's records. (What is listed in your passport or driver license is not as relevant, because TSA compares your name on your boarding pass to their own database.) Initially after I enrolled through Global Entry, I was never given access to Pre Check. It was only after asking the TSA staff at the Dulles Airport help center that they pointed out to me that my Sky Miles account listed my name as first name, middle initial, last name and that TSA spelled out first, middle and last name in their database. Thus, after I had Delta change my name to spell out my middle name, I have received Pre Check on the boarding pass ever since at check-in.

I've had the problem with FIRSTNAMEMIDDLENAME (blank field for middle name) and LAST NAME. I've changed it multiple times and it often gets changed back, which is very frustrating.

I've gotten the whole separated name thing going in my SkyMiles account. How would I go about actually seeing what the TSA has in their database?

I know a GM flying from an airport without PreCheck who was pleasantly surprised to get PreCheck for an April 2013 flight.

ADDED. This was for a domestic flight exBOS and after being sent by the DL line dragon through the SkyPriority chute, the TSA document checker got the three beeps and sent him, to his surprise and delight, over into the PreCheck lane.
