Flight delay compensation.

Hubby was traveling Los Angeles to Orlando after a long flight from Sydney to Los Angeles... I was due to pick him up Orlando at 5.15p.m but after delay after delay, in increments.. He finally arrived 4.16 a.m. He recieved a $6 voucher for food etc for that delay.. Is that right? And what on earth do delta think you can get for $6 in l.a. Airport? There was a technical problem on the plane.. He finally arrived shattered. Thanks guys

Sorry to hear . . . .

First, what Medallion level is he, if any.

Second, were there no rerouting options offered or suggested by your husband? There ought to be tons of options out of LAX to MCO via ATL, DTW ,MSP, etc.

Also, I'd be curious to know if he was flying in Y or F/J?

If the delay was outside of DL's control as it likely was due to the funky weather, he's due nothing other than the snack voucher.

If he sends in a webform, DL may toss a cert his way as a CS gesture.

If one carefully reads the OP's message it clearly says:

"There was a technical problem on the plane.."'

... let's not bring up weather!

Looking at Flightaware, this seems to be DL 1462 LAX-MCO on 27 June. Flightaware shows the flight departing LAX at 2030 local and arriving 0411 local. Scheduled was 0930 departure arriving 1718.

I'm having a hard time here figuring out why someone wasn't rerouted with an 11 hour departure delay unless this was one of those cascading delays that started out as an hour or two and dragged on, as the OP seems to indicate.

As for the $6 food voucher, I'm at a loss there as well, as I've seen more given for far shorter mechanicals.

Something doesn't add up here; it would be helpful if the OP would provide additional detail as to what occurred.

He is delta gold member.. There was a problem with a flap, it was very definitely technical, he was flying economy but had been given an upgrade it was an m class ticket. ( employer books all travel).
there was an alternate via Atlanta arriving Atlanta 3 a.m arriving mcg 9 a.m. So not really an option... They were on the plane.. Take off aborted.. Back to gate, stayed on plane for 1.5 hrs, then deplaned told to return to gate in 1 hr, then the screens said delayed another two hours, and so on... Until finally they took off 11 hrs late. So he got his mammoth $6 voucher as he was deplaned. Luckily he has lounge access... But I can't believe $6 is the comp... For an 11 hr delay.. Just unlucky after a trans con flight from Sydney...

He did query his $6 as other passengers had received an additional $11. He was told $6 was his limit... He certainly wasn't going to hassle over such a small amount... He would never make waves. I just can't believe this is correct.. ( me twisting, not him lol). Good news tho, the roads are clear in Orlando at 4 a.m Love getting up at that time lol

Had a similar issue at LAX a couple of weeks ago almost 6 hour mechanical delay. they gave a $6 voucher to my wife and $10 to me for food. They did also bring out the drink carts for cokes and chips. A couple of days later I received 5k sky pesos in an email. The problem is rerouting from LAX to the East coast is a pain with DL. A rolling hour delay or two and then you are at noon PST, by that time most options are gone.

I'd ask for compensation here. This is not just any delay. Sounds like a $250 ECV would be in order for that long of a MX delay.

+1.

File a complaint on delta.dumb. Explain the situation including hours long delays. Your husband deserves a voucher $200-300 I'd say. Skypesos are a BS response from DL

Just curious . . . .

Do you think the OP('s husband) is should receive any more comp considering this is a SYD/MCO ticket, vs just LAX/MCO?

V30 refers to the 'customer value score' as released in the current Delta "bug".

why? I'd say Delta will rather look at the customer status than the route.
