I don't know about any upgrades. But Delta's is all hyped! I have an 11 grandson and a son that has been trying to get home on the Dec. 27. What is today???? the 30. They have done everything they can think of by not putting them on any fly at all. They have bumped them everyday and sometime twice a day. Why because other people have booked to fly, go figure. So where does that leave them in Iowa. O they got a plane that can go to Detroit (what a joke) to Atlanta and get home at 10 something to night. Go Delta! this will be the last time anyone of us will fly with them. They are a joke. My grandson hasn't even had a Christmas with his mom or us thanks to them. I will drive the next time and forget about flying. They say they understand, well if they really understood anything then they wouldn't bump anyone to get them on the next plane. So far they have been bump at least 10x. We could of road up there and got them and had them home before they even took of today. O' there still not on a plane yet. I wonder if they'll get a upgrade on anything. I mean this must be a very special plane there on. If anyone see this say a pray. If they are not delivered on time and safely there will be great pain for Delta. I am be on mad and I can't say what I really want to say. O' One of the ladies even hung up on my very sweet husband that never get's mad. I'm with my son Delta S---s. He said a few other words too but I won't say them. I wouldn't even send my dog with Delta. Des Moines Iowa does not know their b from a h in the ground. And that is nicely put. Don't let them get a hold of your grand-kids. You will never know where they'll be. Thank you I had to get this off my chest. I don't know if I'm in the right place or not. If not tell me and I'll try to put it in the right place. Maybe after I calm down. VJ

A few questions...
- What routes are they flying?
- Are they flying standby?
- Did they voluntarily bump?
- Is this because of maintenance or weather?
For this much of a disaster, it seems there should be more to the story rather than very dense, rambling text.

Sorry you couldn't get to see your grandkids over the Christmas.
However you're leaving out too much detail for anyone to assess your situation and I've never heard anyone who got bumped 10 times in a row. If that was the case, Delta is obligated to get you point A to B even if it means they have to buy you a ticket from another airline. So you're leaving out a lot of facts or no one here will believe your story.
If they indeed were bumped 10 times as you mentioned, they would have been offered a minimum of $400 in compensation per bump. That should yield $4,000 per person. Hate to miss Christmas at home but sign me up any time for a chance of getting 10 bumps in a row.

Bumped 10 times sounds like they were never confirmed on any aircraft other than their original one, if that's the case.
I don't know if you have watched the weather channel or picked up a newspaper, but it's been quite the mess the last few weeks. What little seats DL has had went away when flights into and out of the northeast and the Ohio valley region canceled.
Don't let them get a hold of your grand-kids

Yikes. Any thread that starts like this should just be deleted with a note to start a new thread that's at least coherent.

Who booked the tickets for your son and grandson?
If you are able to find out, what fare class are the tickets? Were they booked as a "Friends and Family" pass from a DL employee?
Where are they flying from?
Where are they flying to?
How can we help you?
Although this seems to be just a rant, I think you'll find the people here very willing to help or at least give you some better information if you help us with more detail.

I'm guessing they missed their original flight(s) and have been on standby for the past few days, watching full flights leave without them, or being unable to confirm them all the way to their final destination, resulting in the risk of being stranded in DTW or ATL.

Also, can the mods change the title of this to something meaningful? Perhaps "Irrational rant"?

Ditto ... I can understand OP frustration but that is the hazards of a missed/canceled connection during peak travel days. And given that it is weather related PAX are at the mercy of the airlines.
To the OP what do you expect the airlines to do in such cases? Bump other people with confirmed seats off flights ? If one thinks about it for even a few minutes such an approach would create an even bigger domino affect problem. As such, those who are coming from misconnects/canceled flights remain in limbo until seats are found and those with confirmed seats fly - luck of the draw.

I'm guessing nothing. Until and unless OP can sit down and put together some simple facts, this thing should just sit here and wait. Why speculate? Maybe the Martian lander bringing them in for their connection was delayed.

Yes, either that or buddy pass. They probably just have no idea how the system actually works. If they were willing to take a chance on standby in DTW or ATL I suspect they'd have been home days ago.

Agreed. I'm also somewhat doubtful we'll ever see the OP again, as it appears she created an account just to vent about this. Probably in our best interest to just let this one go until we hear from OP again.

The only 2 posts by the OP are on this topic (here and in another thread).
With no more details, safe to assume it was a rant and not a call for help. Nothing to see or do here.
Mods - can we lock this and move on?
