I feel your pain, bsagator. I'm at 74,826 at the moment. (Not that it particularly matters, since my next trips are SJC-ATL and ATL-PLS in A, so that'll get me over the hump, but... the damned game aspect of this thing is very effective in manipulating my psychology...)
I feel you Readynow. This weekend was my first trip as a PM and was upgraded at the gate JFK-LAS and at the window LAS-LAX. Unfortunately I was #12/26 for 11 seats for the redeye LAX-JFK on a T fare. Glad I had my my EC aisle seat. Waited to see if FC boarded full and the last guy came at the last minute. So close!
PM has been nice so far because I actually feel like I have a chance at an upgrade when traveling alone (I was 8/12 as an FO, 0/5 as a GM, 2/3 so far as a PM). 2012=no status-->PM. It's been a journey, but I can say from experience that FO is better than nothing (yes, I believe it trumps having an amex DL card without status). GM is worth the STE+ when traveling internationally and SDC (which I haven't used yet). As for PM, I like it already because of the improved chances for an upgrade. My wife finally made FO, so maybe we won't be on the absolute bottom of the upgrade list anymore. I do know that she will enjoy the choice bennie this holiday
