Adding segment to DL SkyMiles ticket as a PM

I'm trying to fly USA-JFK-TLV next year with 2 people in C. I found 2 seats at the low mileage tier from JFK-TLV-JFK, but there are 0 corresponding days with USA-JFK at the low level. I know as a PM I can refund the miles/taxes with no penalty up to 72 hours before the flight. Here is my question:

If I book the JFK-TLV-JFK legs at the low tier, and the USA-JFK flights open up at the low tier rate at a later date (but presumably the JFK-TLV portion then isn't available at the low rate), can I add on the USA-JFK leg to my existing reservation without additional miles and just pay any extra taxes?

Or, would they need to refund the JFK-TLV ticket and re-ticket the whole thing at the going available mileage redemption rate?

Wirelessly posted (Galaxy S2: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.3; en-us; SGH-T989 Build/IML74K) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)

Yes, you can add segments for free as PM and keep your existing ticket intact. You'll just pay the difference in taxes. Go ahead and book it.. I've done that as a GM and paid the 150 fee for the change while keeping the original award intact.

Thanks all. I booked the JFK-TLV in BE. Then, I noticed that there was one seat from USA-JFK outbound available in F, so I called and had it added. At the same time, they added the 2nd seat outbound in Y+ and the return JFK-USA for both of us in Y+ for the same miles. (Seems like a no-brainer, but didn't realize you could mix C and Y at the going C rate since it didn't show on DL.dumb)

I'll keep my eye on F seats opening up and switch to them if/when that happens.

You can add low Y to a low C ticket without being charged more miles, but adding medium Y to a low C ticket normally results in DL adding the miles required for medium domestic coach to the miles for the international low BE.
