All depends on the route, day, time, and load. (Oh, and FCM.) Some flights have plenty and others have none. Best bet if you want one is to set an alert on ExpertFlyer.

I am considering using my first SWU. I'm already ug on the dtw-sfo segment and trying to use it for the Sfo-hnl one. Right now, f=8, g=0. if I use it, I'm assuming I'll be on the ug list right till departure. Is this correct?

Well, can't speak for anyone else but if it was reported on FT, then it must be true.
Really, we can usually buy BE for less -- no, far less -- than Y,B,M? Is this something else reported by someone on FT? IME, the opposite is most certainly true but would love to see some examples where BE fares are far less than Y, B, M.
