SDC/VDB

1. Have a flight Thursday evening (last flight of the day) CAK-ATL and I'm looking to SDC to an earlier flight. Right now, the earlier flight shows: F9 P0 A0 Y3 B1 M0 H0 Q0 K0 L0 U0 T0 E0. Called DL and the agent indicated that flight is actually oversold...given what I've read, it seems likely that Y3 will become Y0 at T-3 and I'll be unable to SDC. Is that correct?

2. Unlikely scenario BUT...In the event I cannot SDC to the earlier flight and can VDB the later flight, I'd get back home Friday morning, AFTER another scheduled DL flight (ATL-LGA). Will DL accommodate me on this flight as well if it's my VDB on the evening flight that caused me to miss it?

Thanks all!

1. Assuming that you purchased a coach ticekt, you cannot SDC onto any flight that is Y0 at the time you try to SDC.

2. Assuming it's a separate ticket/PNR, they're not obligated to change it. Remember VDB is voluntary. You can ask the GA and make it a condition of you VDBing, but then the GA is likely to prefer to pick someone else who doesn't require so much work to rebook.

Facts:
* Your current schedule: CAK-ATL (late Thurs), ATL-LGA (early Fri)

Desires:
* You would like to get to ATL earlier on Thurs, thus the desire to SDC to earlier CAK-ATL flight
* If you can't SDC on earlier CAK-ATL, then you desire to VDB from late CAK-ATL and spend the night in CAK.
* If you do take VDB, then you will miss your Fri ATL-LGA, thus you desire DL to route you CAK-?-LGA.

Did I get that right?

I would prefer to take the earlier flight as I won't be back for another 4 weeks and would like to have a night at home, however, if I can't get an earlier flight I'll only have about 8 hours at home before I have to turn around and leave again and figured I might as well try for the VDB if they can get me to LGA sometime on Friday.

Honestly I'm pretty new at this so I don't really know what flies and what doesn't. I'm guessing from the responses that this would be a no-go... I'm OK either way, just learning. :-)

1. Yes, if the flight you want to SDC to is oversold at T-3, there's a good chance DL will change it to Y0.

2. I assume CAK-ATL and ATL-LGA are separate tickets? I don't know if the agent processing the VDB would be able to "combine" them like you're asking, but you have nothing to lose by asking. VDB is a negotiation--you can ask for whatever you want, and the GA will tell you if they are able and willing to make it happen or not.
