How does E+ affect Op-ups?

Sorry if this has been posted before...

There have been numerous recent reports of medallions getting operational upgrades from E+ to BE. So my questions is, what is the ranking for Op-Ups when you factor in E+? In other words does a Silver on a T fare in E+ trump a DM in regular economy on a K fare? Or are there subjective variables in play with the GA?

Chances are slim and none that a DM will give up a free E+ seat for a seat in Y in the back but it is possible. Other than that, I would imagine the same old op-up rules apply, the pecking order for elites begins at DM and works its way down.

I'd wager a month's salary that E+ has no bearing on op-ups. It's got to be status and then booking class.

Agreed, you can't even see it in the fare basis can you?

Since Economy Comfort is complimentary to PM and DM I doubt whether you will find PM/DM in non-EC Y section.

Some GM has been opuped to EC pushing DM/PM from EC to BE.

Depends on the bird. Once I make PM, I'll still be sitting in 30ABFG on the 764s and not in EC. I know rwoman shares my views on that, and she's a DM.

Not delta related, but sort of relevant. A girl I knew had purchased KLM's economy comfort going from PER-KUL-AMS-VIE. Her flight was delayed getting in. When she arrived in AMS, her flight to VIEW had closed so she missed her AMS-VIE leg. She was automatically rebooked by the agent on the next flight to VIE in J. No one's really sure whether her purchasing the E+ seat had anything to do with it, but I don't think it would hurt the chances.

Add me to that list too... It depends on the plane and the configuration if I take EC or not...

This would never happen.

It is not a separate cabin, that DM in Y on a K fare still paying more than the FO on a T fare paying for Economy Comfort.

I was bumped up to BE on DL156 Mem-Ams. I was booked in Economy comfort but was also a FO at the time. The flight was 24 hours late so we all jumped ship to the next days flight thus an overbooking and my eventual bump up to the front. Not sure why I got the op up but am leaning to status more so than E+ as E+ doesn't show on boarding cards.

I didnt think that paying more had anything to do with it...only the fare class and medallion status. I would think its possible for a Silver on a K fare to have paid more then a Diamond on a L fare in some cases...especially if originating airport was different.

It is technically possible that a FO could be sitting in E+ on a T fare and a DM in coach on a K fare..because the DM wanted to sit in Y for whatever reason (exit row, sitting with co-worker, who knows)

The only question is if E+ is now a factor in the Op-UP process. Most people do not seem to think so, but there is a lack of evidence I think..

Yes, yes I do. I've received an OPUP on T, K, and U fares...and I was in row 30 on each occasion.

In April, my sister (GM) flew LAX-ATL-LHR-MSP-LAX on a $530ish fare...she received an OPUP ATL-LHR.

I do not think E+ has any bearing over who gets an OPUP.

Going MSP-CDG-ZAG on thursday. Per the seat map, it looks like there are only about 10 Y seats left.

Assuming those last 10 seats fill, If I pull the status card, the "I'm extremely tall" card, the "we're on our honeymoon" card, the we're in e+ card, and top it all off by being extraordinarily gracious, do you think I could sweet talk my way into an op-up? Or is it purely a matter of the flight being oversold coupled with the flyer being lucky?

Mmmmmmmmmm........op-up

It was not an op-up (as Y was not full) but the empty BE seat next to me on my DUB-ATL flight last month was filled with a "kettle" brought forward from E+. She had no status on DL and she wasn't an employee or on a buddy pass.
