Unfortunately, DL is married to Gogo. So even if in-flight competition were to become a reality, once on-board, you get what you get. Perhaps the equipment is proprietary and owned by Gogo?

fyi... the original VH's last album with Roth was called 1984... 5150 was the first with Sammie...

then david lee roth had a solo album called "eat'em and smile" which prompted van "hagar" to release album #2 called "ou812" which many interpreted as "oh you ate one too" in response to roth's album title...

van halen with lee roth back on vocals is finishing/finished a new album as we speak with eddie, alex and eddie's kid wolfgang (playing bass instead of michael anthony)

sorry to get off topic but i do know my VanHalen... :D

as for gogo... i have found it to be quite slow and i cannot get my slingbox to work thru it so i have been reluctant to purchase it in flight...

What I would like to see is X cents/minute option (X=10 or something like that).
Useful if I only need to check email once or twice during the flight or send a document I was working on for the last 2 hours.
Would also help someone with weak battery or give a chance to stop using service if it is too slow or does not work with VPN or whatever.

On my last flight there was a $1.95/15 min option, great for quick email check. I used it twice. This is a great new pricing possibility!

Could you do me a favor and drop me a PM with the email you got? Something certainly isn't right. The $4.95 flight pass only applies to short (>650 mile) flights so someone on a transcon won't see it.

So I talked with this Gogo representative through PMs but then heard nothing back from them after I gave them information about my troubles. Not sure what happened here...

Where does one enter these codes?

I'm continuing my personal boycott - and guess what, don't miss it at all...now I'm catching up on reading and movies. Prior to the getto auto renew and price increase, I bought the monthly pass consistently. I don't NEED internet in the air, but it was nice to have before GoGo's business practices went downhill....it's not the $$, I can expense that - it's the principle.

I'm shocked at some of these replies. I happily pay the $34.95/month and think it is worth every penny. I guess for me the CBA just works out great. I've told others that I cannot believe how cheap it is... Sorry for those that think it is too much, I just find it to be a bargain.

Edit: To be clear, I don't know a soul that works for GoGo and they are not a client or related to my business in any way. I just think it is a great product.

Thank you for being clear but here's how it looks from my perch - I spend 10-20 hours per month on a wifi equipped plane so $35/mon = $1.75 - $3.25 per hour.

$30/mon for a mobile data plan costs about 5 cents per hour.

My budget simply can't justify $1.75 or more per hour to download a few emails and/or browse the web. People who spend days in the air or have money to burn probably have no issue with the cost but I do not have that luxury and GoGo is simply not that much value to me. YMMV...

WOW! I really hope that this isn't just a nasty rumor. I'd love for DL to offer this, maybe 50% off for DM/PM and 25% off for GM/FO? That would be a HUGE differentiator for Delta, and I'd buy a monthly pass at that price point for sure. :D

+1

A tiered discount along these lines would also cause me to jump in for a monthly subscription (or better yet, quarterly or annual, if they'd add those options).

If this did occur I'm sure it wouldn't be secret on this forum for more than a few seconds.

I can't see GoGo/Delta offering anything like that. It doesn't make sense to offer a discount for a monthly subscription to the people who are on the planes more than anyone else each month and more likely to purchase the subscription anyway. To give a discount to the people who would put the most use on the service does not seem something that would be in GoGo's interest.

Thats 2, I too refuse to use internet while in the air, I watch movies, listen to music, but will not power up my computer to go online.

That makes three. I've been downloading tv series that I wanted to see, but, missed from the start.
