accepted $41 FCM for SMF-LAX because I needed the extra 250 MQM to get me over the platinum hump for the year. will now clear the bar by 59 miles. ticket rebooked into G.

I thought you could only do PWMs at time of checkout at time of ticketing.

$902 offer to upgrade to D1 on DL 407 tomorrow (JFK - ZRH). Not sure if true FCM or some theoretical fare difference (on a very expensive last minute Y ticket for business travel). Offer on phone only, doesn't appear available on web.

Looks like about 7 seats open right now.

Declined - flight is a little too short for me to pull the trigger and it leaves to early for me to be properly tired so I'd be pretty pissed to spend $900 and end up with 1 hour of sleep. Plus I've got hobo first class at the moment back in coach for free (since it's work ticket) and would rather save the money to spend on the ground.

If it drops would consider it but doubt it will.

Delta sent me an email asking if I wanted to upgrade my upcoming trip to Baltimore with a link saying "click to check prices".

The plane is a CRJ-200

can you provide more details? how did you go about purchasing (ie, at what time)? i assume after ticketing from your 'my trips' page, but well before T-24? have you contacted DL to ask about this? do your receipts show G/P class?

Way before T-24 some as much as 3 weeks in advance. I have two emails in and one flight is still not right. Finally called the DM line and they manually had to change my account miles whatever that means. I don’t need the MQMs or MQDs but as I said in 1 email to DL it sure removes a huge incentive to purchase in the future. They said there was a system glitch. I have paid for a few more in the coming weeks so I will let you know how it goes. Latest 2 BPs show G and P btw.

On my last FCM purchase, DCA-CVG-SEA, in September (I pulled the trigger about 2 weeks before travel), I got the 150% MQMs.

Did you get an op up? That happens sometimes when overseas offers appear and not enough accept to go from Y to J

No op-up ended up being 11 open D1 seats and they all went to non-revs off the standby list.

No regrets though - had the row of 3 to myself and got 3-4 hours of sleep about the same as I would've gotten in D1.

Seeing an upgrade offer on a SAN-ATL trip (~month out), which dropped from $289 to $209 this week. Not sure I'll get too much more out of a regular F seat over Comfort, on a 4h30 redeye, apart from extra MQM ... but I was surprised to see the price drop.

jrl767 Nov 13, 2017 10:44 pm

I might do that with the back-of-the-mind plan to SDC if (a) my schedule would permit leaving SAN around 8pm to get the SAN-LAX and (b) LAX-ATL is a flat-bed

FLYPWM Nov 14, 2017 5:02 am

What would be a fair upgrade offer on an ATL-TUS flight on a on a Saturday flight (757)? Thanks

Ultimately, it all depends on what you think is a reasonable amount of money to spend. If you're a millionaire, I imagine $500 is nothing and you might as well spend it (though I'd wonder why you're not flying F in the first place :p).

On the other hand, if $200 is the difference between making your mortgage payment, I wouldn't recommend taking any FCM offer.

The rough guidance I've seen on these parts it's that <$1/minute is reasonable to pay for a FCM offer - make sure you check the fare difference between your ticket price and just buying F outright, it's not guaranteed to be a good deal.
