Problem with L-class ticket

I've been issued an L-class ticket between Muscat, Oman, and Rapid City, SD. The routing is MCT-AMS-MSP-RAP-MSP-AMS-MCT. I had requested a connecting flight at MSP with a connecting time of at least 2 and a half hours. This was ignored. I have 1:40, which is impossible. The issuing agency says I'll have to pay 66 Omani rials (ca. US$170) to make the change. Secondly, I need a stop in MSP on the way back, but it looks like they're going to want extra money for that, too. My question is this: Would I be able to make this reservation change through Delta once I'm in the US? Or will I be referred back to the original issuing agency here? Thanks!

Welcome to FT!

1:40 at MSP should be fine, even with having to clear immigration. The minimum connect time for international to domestic at MSP is one hour, so you've got 40 minutes beyond that. The only situation in which I'd be worried about this connection is if you're on the last MSP-RAP of the day or have serious mobility problems. Even in the latter case, I think you'll be fine.

As to changing the ticket for the return, DL's change fee will almost surely be USD250. I'd say if you gave the agency instructions on how to book the ticket and they didn't follow them, your best bet is to fight with them to make the change for free.

Delta will make the change even if the ticket was issed by an agency, but you will have to pay the change fee and most L fares do not allow stopovers (at least not for free).

I forget sometimes...

Does Delta allow you to cancel a nonref ticket w/in 24 hours with no damage done?

If so, cancel it out and rebook what you want.

The 24 hour cancellation policy is only for tickets originating in the US.

they do not. The OP would have to check with the TA to get this sorted out.

It does, if purchased directly from delta and under certain conditions. The OP references an issuing agency. Doesn't sound to me like he bought it from Delta.

And OP's ticket isn't originating in the US, so it wouldn't matter anyway. (As rwoman notes.)

Ignored by whom? When you bought your ticket through the agency, did you not get confirmation over the phone (or in person or however you did it) that the suggested itinerary meet your requirements BEFORE paying and confirming the booking? If not it is your fault and you will have to pay the change fee. Always see or hear the exact itinerary before paying. If, somehow, it was the agency's fault (i.e. they told you one thing before paying and you found out later it was something else), then you will have to fight with them to eat the fee. Almost guaranteed DL will not change you for free.

If you really need the stop over on the return, get this issue addressed now. Waiting will make you VERY unhappy.

You might even want to consider a side ticket if need be. I would not be surprised if a domestic ticket proves very less expensive than changing your existing ticket.

A domestic ticket involving RAP and MSP? Surely you jest.
