Same Flight Number for Outbound and Return
I booked the following and was surprised to see the same flight number for the outbound and return flights. Is this a regular occurence?
Code:
Carrier Flight # Depart Arrive Equipment Type Stops Flight Time Time/Date Airport Time/Date Airport Delta 2006 7:55am 05 Sep 2011 LGA 10:14am 05 Sep 2011 MSY Airbus Industrie A319 0 03:19 Delta 2006 11:00am 05 Sep 2011 MSY 2:55pm 05 Sep 2011 LGA Airbus Industrie A319 0 02:55

It is not uncommon. Usually it is a good indication that the aircraft and crew turnaround and return to the originating city (i.e. fly MSY-LGA-MSY).

I just booked ATL-CLT-ALT and the same thing happened. It shows up in my itineraries as just CLT-ATL. I couldn't assign a seat for the return because it says I already have a seat on the flight (outbound). All I care about is getting two quick segments so hopefully I will get ATL-CLT and then CLT-ATL.

Happens more often than not out of GFK, and I assume most of the small midwest markets, especially on the Skywest legs. My last trip, I flew GFK-MSP on the same flight number as MSP-GFK a week later.... I thought it was kinda cool.
