Missing a leg

I know there have been threads about similar situations before, but I put this out there because I wonder if some of my specific details might make a difference.

A company bought me a ticket ATL-GRU-XXX-GIG-ATL. T Fare. GRU-XXX and XXX-GIG flights are on G3. Turns out, after they'd bought & sent me the ticket, the XXX-GIG was at a bad time. They bought me a cheap ticket on TAM, XXX-GIG.

What happens when I show up at Rio for GIG-ATL, not having flown my scheduled Gol leg from XXX-GIG? Have I profoundly abrogated our contract of carriage? Will they let me on the plane? I'm PM: do you think I can get away with looking abashed and remorseful?

What are the more honest options? Pay a change fee just to cancel the XXX-GIG leg? Any other suggestions?

You most likely will end up buying a $1500 ticket to get home.

This is one of those very clear issues.

Just pay the change fee.

It in not "very clear" - a thread was recently started where a poster was on the same airline, missed a flight in the middle of the itinerary and didn't have a problem printing a BP online or boarding. Not saying that will be the case of the OP, just that it is not as "very clear" as some suggest. YMMV.

Agreed its not cut and dry;

I once had an M fare ATL-PVG-CAN-PVG-ATL, due to strange circumstances I missed my CAN-PVG flight but was able to buy my own last minute business class ticket on CZ to go CAN-SHA (other airport in Shanghai). Called DL and told them of the situation and to not cancel out of my ticket. Agent said she would do what she could and when I arrived for checkin at PVG, all was fine.

Nope. Just checked and they are both there.

Will make sure I monitor the situation, tho. Thanks for the heads up.

And for a second I thought I wasn't the only DM with a not-so-wooden leg.

And if you have any intention of using miles or a SWU to upgrade, you'll need to name your first child "Delta."
