Heck, now that McDonalds is serving Oatmeal.... wouldn't that be an improvement over the cereal?

McDonald's has many offerings that would be better at many meals than what passes for F food. While I enjoy the selection, look at how people on this board go on and on about the hamburger in F. Really? That's what you get from the $99 plus my free upgrade crowd.

How about a special meal order? What could that yield on a 900-1499 mile breakfast flight (other than a snarky remark, I mean)?

Would it surprise you to learn that ALL special meals are covered by the cereal meal? I have no dairy vegetarian attached to my profile from NW days, and I get the same thing as everyone else--EXCEPT that I sometimes get a cheap bagel instead of the muffin top on the other trays.

Would you guys like grits for breakfast ? Cereals and partially skimmed milk are perfectly adequate and not that this country couldn't use a lighter meal every now and then.

On a side note, I had breakfast in BE last week and only a few passengers got the croissant. Can the BE habitues confirm it has now become an optional item ?

with your eating restrictions, you should've brought your own food...

Wow! If this isn't a blatant cost cut in service I don't know what is.

Not good Delta.... NOT GOOD!

DL tried pulling this stunt back around the time they took over NW. They like to save money by trying to load us up with cheaper carbs. If left unchecked, we will all be having bowls of Costco rice with biscoff on them. Complain to hi Heaven on DELTA.COM. They will bring back the omlettes as soon as they can see that this cost savings method is pissing off their DM's and PM's.

Funny that Richard and his bean counters never learn. They run a continual loop pattern:

==> Lame Cost Savings Idea Concocted
==> Implement Idea
==> DM's and PM's Get Pissed, Start Flying Other Carriers
==> Richard and Minions Have a "OH - CRAP!" Contemplation Moment
==> Lame Cost Savings Idea Repealed / Rolled Back / Cancelled...
==> Repeat Cycle

Did you ever think that DL is re-evaluating the worth of some of the DM and PM flyers? The Kettles are paying the bills with fees. The reason we have cereal is because many DM and PM flyers are in F on T fares.

The options for defection are far fewer than they were just two years ago. On the UA/CO side, they are seriously monitizing F and upgrades are tougher and tougher to get. They have better catering, but it is tougher to get up front. On AA, it is going to cost you. US is a joke with its upgrade class.

Where are you going to go?

Yeah, because the one guy who pays $300 for a ticket and $50 in bag fees once a year makes up for the $2,000 I just spent yesterday (or the $7,000 I have already spent since January)?

Possibly???

You don't say where you are flying, how many tickets you bought etc. Just throwing out numbers only proves that you "think" we will all be impressed by your spending not that you are profitable etc...

I have spent a LOT this year on Delta, however the avg ticket cost is less then $300 and that's for flights from Atlanta to the LA area so I am flying a long way, using a lot of fuel etc... I don't think I am actually all that profitable to Delta. I don't pay bag fees, I don't buy meals etc..... I spent $1,500 yesterday, less then you, but considering the flight etc..I am still not sure it's "profitable" for Delta.

And that omelet is still inedible.. If we start an effort to bring it back on all flights I get to start the same effort to get it removed from all flights. (If it's all that's left when they get to me..... I skip breakfast LOL!)

And those of you continuing the "threats" to leave have lost all impact. Delta knows you aren't serious, we know you aren't serious, if you were you would be gone. Seriously, the "threats" are just getting old along with the "good old days of NW" stories. If you want to impact then put your money where your mouth is. I did, I left AA years ago. (And do a search, I don't think I have ever even bothered to post on that forum...I spend very little time on there since what they do doesn't impact me. I admit I toyed with booking a flight earlier this week $1500 BOS to CDG, but came to my senses quickly and booked BOS to LHR on Delta!)

You are correct, my average is about $500/flight. That being said, I skipped a $148 fair yesterday for a $200 more flight (arrived 2 hours earlier). The kettle would have booked the $148 + $50 in fees and still paid less than me.

You are also correct that the omelet has gone south in a bad way!!

Ok, you may be profitable.

But I expect a lot of us whining on this boards are not really profitable. I generally go with 'cheapest' to save my company money (and because I have this realization that if they spend the "profits" on airfare there is less for salary! :) )

I think it depends on the lengh of the flight and the type of aircraft. I have been on some recent 757s and 737-900s that had hot breakfasts.

I thought that DL was beginning to reintroduce hot breakfast option. Obviously hot breakfast cannot be provided on aircraft without galley.

I actually like the cereal option. It's lighter than eggs with breakfast meat and there is still plenty of other options on the tray like a mini bagel and a cup of fruit. It would be nice if they could have a couple varieties of cereal though.

Option of cereal is different from the choice between ceral or no breakfast.

Just had my first cold Delta breakfast in a while this morning and was disappointed to see that the warm croissant/bagel had been replaced with a prepackaged muffin top (!). I thought it odd that the plastic-wrapped thing was served on a plate. The FA even made a joke about Delta being unable to afford a whole muffin.

Have there been other muffin top sightings, or was my experience an anomaly?

Loads of carbohydrates make me shudder. In response to comments about the omelet, being inedible, my bar for inedible is quite low. I prefer omelet to the option underlined above. I would rather have fresh fruit than cereal.
