Got double points
our plane took off and 5 minutes later pilot announced mechanical trouble and we had to land, so we were then put on another flight. I checked my skymiles and they gave me full credit for the first flight that only lasted 5 minutes and full credit for the later one as well. I didnt say anything, think they will catch it.

I know I;m new, but honestly do the people who work in delta customer service scan this forum all day, looking for mistakes they made. If they did then you would have an airline with service so good no one else would be in business. My post doesnt say when this happened, what country it happened in, etc. I guess I will be shocked if the points disappear and lesson learned.

Giving you double miles lets them off easy. I seriously doubt they will catch it. I assume this is rdm/Mqm/mqs?

Oh, and I personally thought it was an interesting anecdote worth sharing. One more data point about this strange ecosysted called SkyMiles that we all like to study.

During the Icelandic volcano travel disruption in 2010, I was booked on MLB-ATL-MSP-CDG-SOF. All flights were a go until I got to MSP and the MSP-CDG flight was cancelled. DL decided to send me back to MLB to wait out the volcano (I actually stayed in ATL but that's another story). Anyway, DL gave me miles for the MSP-ATL flight, which I did not pay for. I didn't want to mention that then since I was afraid of loosing the "gift" miles. I figure it is safe to mention now.
BTW, DL was exceptionally kind to me during the Icelandic volcano event and I did write to them and thank them and specifically mentioned several agents who were extremely helpful.
