Help on using non-refundable credit

I had an international ticket booked June 8, 2010 for travel in the last two weeks of July 2010. My trip was cancelled, so I have a credit now (minus the change fee).

I am getting conflicting info about using the credit.
  • One guy told me the ticket must be rebooked by June 8, 2011 (one year from original issue) with travel anytime after that.
  • Another guy told me that the travel must be completed by June 8, 2011.

The fare was QHWP3 but apparently I have no access to the rules.

Where/who could give me more information about this?

ExpertFlyer (which has a five day free trial) recently added the capability to view fare rules up to a year in the past. VERY handy since DL makes it difficult/impossible to find the rules after you've booked a ticket.

How do you look it up? I joined but can't find anyway to look up a past fare rule.

It's not well-advertised, but go to Fare Information and put in the dates for your flights. Uncheck the validate fares box, otherwise your fare probably won't come up because of advance purchase requirements.

Okay ... Thanks ... finally found it. Now the question is, how to read it. I can't make much sense of it, except I don't see anything about a year, or travel being completed by a year from the ticketing date.

Anyone have any tips on how to read it?

Ticket can be changed for 1-yr from the date of first issue. The flights can however be after this 1 year. So, you have to make your final plans and ticket it before your 1-yr is up.

Hope this helps. ^
