Used to be a delta client and have used skymiles forever. Most of my flying is to Europe-take the train domestically when possible! Delta Skymiles has become really difficult plus expensive plus "not user friendly"! I can fly Open Skies or Virgin Atlantic cheaper and with less miles so I am now using them as my partners. Virgin Atlantic has a shopping mall also and instead of buying on Skymiles mall I now buy on Virgin Atlantic mall shopping online.
VA and OS have better first class facilities and are less expensive. Also if you do not have a AMEX card your skymiles are not usuable for a buy ticket and use skymiles. To fly to Europe I can pay $3300 plus 25000 miles on Delta even though I have almost 100000 skymiles. Since I do not have a AMEX I cannot use the "buy ticket and use miles". However I can fly on virgin atlantic to London for $4100 with no miles. It takes 90000 miles for award ticket on VA and 200000 on Delta for low time.
So my flying will be done elsewhere. Know Delta is too big to care about me but in time others will also catch on!!!

b) "mall shopping" is definitely pivotal in making one's decision of whom to fly.
c) VA? Or VS?
d) Using miles "for a buy ticket and use skymiles" isn't a good deal, anyhow.
e) Actually, no, it's not 200k miles on Delta "for low time."

Welcome to FlyerTalk, scha0732.
Delta's OK for getting you from A to B. It's only the SkyPesos program that's a major deficiency.
A lot of us caught on a couple years ago, or even earlier. The writing was on the wall when they announced the 3-tiered redemptions, although most of us probably had no idea then as to how bad it would get.
