First, welcome to FT, ndflife94! ^
Second, I haven't heard of a way to know in advance what tail number will be flying a flight. Do you mean N number or ship number? N number is the FAA number that begins with N (crazy, I know) somewhere around the tail of the aircraft. The ship number is Delta's number for the aircraft, and as far as I've seen it's painted at the very top of the tail.
I think you might be able to call Delta and ask, although I don't know how far in advance they've got the info available.
