Cancellation Question

I was originally scheduled for TPA-ATL-BUF on Monday Jan 10 but I have since changed it to TPA-DTW-BUF. When i changed my flights i was assigned a seat for the TPA-DTW flight, but for the DTW-BUF I wasn't assigned a seat and was told it would be assigned at the gate. I went online to try and get a seat but couldn't. Would I be safe to assume that this flight may be oversold?? The flight is 3719 from DTW-BUF.

THanks for any help.

3719 is sold out so yes it is likely oversold. Not much you can do but get to the airport and hope there are no-shows.

It's amazing how people on this board see that so differently. For some, IDB is the best thing possible. Count me amongst those who wants to get where I'm supposed to go when I'm supposed to be there.

Delta is no longer selling seats on that flight so I would agree its probably either at capacity or oversold. There are a fair amount of blocked seats on every flight so just because there are no seat assignments doesn't necessarily mean it is oversold. Those blocked seats will be used by the gate agent to accommodate anyone lacking a seat assignment.
