Well, not exactly the way Delta has always done things. When PMUs first came out, people who qualified during that calendar year got them relatively quickly with a 1 year expiration date but they didn't get any the next calendar year.

I have read thru this thread and I am still confused? Here is what my CB looks like when I am on the website:

2010 Diamond (Select two choices)
2011 Platinum (Select one choice)

I am a first time DM achieving status in early December and was PM last year. Should i have any other choices or am I good?

Assuming you already spent the 2010 choice bene's you received last year, then this is correct.

You received the "extra" choice when you make a level for the first time, not for renewing. So you get the bonus 2010 DM, but not the PM.

My Choice Benefits for 2010 and 2011 showed up today. I made PM for the first time on 12/20. Sent an e-mail on on 12/30 and got the "Please allow 7-10 days for us to follow up with you" e-mail. Checked today and both options were there. Thanks Delta!

In reading the most recent posts on this thread, it sounds as if you re-qualified for Platinum in late December, then you'd get two choices (one for 2010 and one for the 2011 program year). Can anyone confirm if that's correct? I just re-qualified for Plat on 12/26/10, and have a choice available to me for 2011, but not for 2010. Do you think I'll eventually have two choices available, or just the '11 option? Many thanks!

NO!

If you RE-QUALIFIED, you are only due a 2011 choice.
If you QUALIFIED FOR A HIGHER LEVEL THAN LAST YEAR (e.g. a 2010 GM or below reaching PM or DM, or a 2010 PM or below reaching DM), you should be able to get both 2010 and 2011.

RE-QUALIFIED = 2011 only
QUALIFIED FOR HIGHER LEVEL THAN LAST YEAR = 2010 and 2011

Sorry about the bolding and capital letters, but this seems to be pretty clear from the ones that I'm reading. Also, that'll make it extra clear for others.

First Time Platinum on Dec 14 2010
 

Thanks to the members of Flyer Talk, I was alerted to the Delta "glitch" for Choice Benefits awards achieved towards the end of 2010. Shortly after qualifying on Dec 14 as Platinum for the FIRST TIME EVER, my account showed only a 2011 Platinum Choice Benefit.

But, after reading this forum, I called Delta Special Customer Services, and very briefly said I was aware of a Delta problem that wasn't providing me with a 2010 AND 2011 award. Shea, the agent, put me on hold for 10 minutes and returned to say everything was now "fixed" and I should have 2010 and 2011 Benefits. That proved to be the case. I was frankly surprised at how easy it was, -- no long explanations or hassles at all. :)

Now my only "problem" is to figure out the "best" Choice Benefits for me. I don't fly for business, so my personal trips are usually on lower class fares. With that in mind I'm thinking the $200 credit may be best. Any suggestions?

I am not sure they have been doing this long enough to have anything qualified as always. :)

Sounds like the $200 cert would be your best bet.

Like others, when I submitted my request for 2010 Diamond Choice Benefits via the Contact Us page, I got the same standard reply from T.H.

When I later called, I got an agent who took about 20 minutes with me on hold, and I had my choice benefits enabled.

The lesson: Call Premium Sales.

After getting the please give us 7-10 reply last week, I got this one today (...finally!!!)

Dear Mr. DOMCHARLES,

Thank you for your patience.

We know you are anxious to use your choice benefits, and although we
initially advised we would manually process your Choice Benefit, we have
instead adjusted your account to allow you to make your own selection.
Please log on to your account on delta.com and you will see the option
for 2010 choice benefits is now available to you. You will have until
February 28, 2011 to make your selection. Remember, that if you choose
to gift medallion status to someone as one of your 2010 benefits, their
status will expire on February 28, 2011. No changes are able to be
processed once you confirm your selection online.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the frustration this situation
has caused. We very much appreciate your loyalty and work diligently to
provide a program that is consistent for all of our customers. We look
forward to serving your travel needs in the upcoming year.
