How does one "defect" from Delta?

2nd year Platinum, now thoroughly disgusted w/Delta. How does one arrange for a status match with either United, US, or AA?

Thanks

Wink

Good luck as you leave, and thanks for the extra seat up front...

The grass is always greener on the other side...until you get there

Wow! Sounds pretty horrible! Would you consider elaborating as to what things are sooooo terrible? I'm guessing that it's probably the same stuff we hear every day here.

The OP should double check the CO forum and the status match thread. There have been reports of CO not doing status matches anymore.

You willingly want a US status match.
OK, inquiring minds want to know... what disgusted you with DL?

Thanks
what I did was shoot off an email to their FF contact (it will be on their websites). Not sure for PM but UA seemed to have a pretty fair status match (ie you get the status and have to fly 7500 miles/10 segments for Premier or 15K miles/20 segments for Premier Plus within 90 days to keep it). I tried US one year mainly due to schedule and did not care for it, but everyone has their own priorities.

For US, you have to pay to do a trial. Believe me, you don't want to go there.

Actually, I feel US has cleaned up their operations pretty good in the last two years, and if you fly enough during the trial, you can be given top-tier/Chairman pretty easily.

For UA, I shot an email to the status match email address, with a copy of my DL Gold status showing on delta.com (didn't have the card when I matched), and then flew a challenge. UA will match up to 1P/Gold. I will also say that Economy Plus (extra leg room) is an amazing perk, and keeps me loyal to UA.

AA will simply do a challenge up to PLT, if you have elite status already, they will give you GLD during the duration of the challenge which is a nice perk.

CO was a straight status match, can't say what they're currently doing.

AS is a straight status match, can accumulate on DL, AS, and AA domestically, and a bunch of international partners, but no upgrades on AA, and no waived baggage fees on DL or AA.

I can say as a top elite with all three alliances that the grass really is not greener. There's lots to complain about and laud on almost everybody. be sure you really want to change before doing it. If you do status on US is easy, and matches on others ar not hard they all match one way or another. Just make certain you really want to do it.

I got a status match from CO about 10 days ago. DL plat to CO Plat.

I sent an email with a copy of my current account activity to CO, the match took about 3 days. Good through the 2/12.

Came from there. Went to UA and DL. Would never go back. Grass was much greener in my case.

Mrs. NY-FLA flies US often. I sense their act has improved, but they still seem to have no idea about how to put FC in an RJ.
Little extras at top tier; Nada.
Two aisle boarding at gate to accommodate late elites? Yeah right?
And check out the US board thread on preferred seating.

The grass at US is still brown, baby, brown!!
