One question for the OP and one question for Delta:
To the OP: Any idea how Delta selected you and/or other people to meet with their leaders? My question: (two parts): Will Delta be making any premium awards available again (specifically, international first class on 3-class airlines, like the old Singapore Airlines awards, the old Emirates awards, the old Air France FC awards and so on)? If so, when can we expect to see the expanded award options? |
1) Maybe not a question for Anderson, but I would like a definitive answer on the "should I board if I am number one on the upgrade list (with theoretically no seats available but not all FC boarded yet), and if I board am I removed from the upgrade list?" I am sure the participants in the "Walk a Mile in a GA Shoes" will probably have first hand experience on this.
2) I would also like clarification on the "no 50 seaters on flights longer than 60 minutes" announcement made last year. 3) I know there are plans to "refresh" the facilities at JKF. Are there any plans to "refresh" the staff? |

One question for the OP
To the OP: Any idea how Delta selected you and/or other people to meet with their leaders? Everyone who is a registered participant of the ATL DO who attends the Thursday afternoon "Meet with Delta Executives" event will get to "meet with their leaders". It is a scheduled event open for all DO registrants. And the dinner is also open to all registrants... The Q&A is not a closed event. |
Leftover from last year (we ran out of time):
Why is MM status or Sky Club Membership not used in the upgrade lottery when certain AMX membership is used? Why asked> Sky Club membership is $400 I believe, AMX reserve is $450. Delta gets 100% of the $400 and I doubt they get 100%of the AMX fee. I had already decided that buying into the club was not worth it and would be buying the reserve card the next time my membership came up for renewal (Duh!). MM status shows long term loyalty to Delta, especially since the advent of Sky miles and the change in the "what counts toward MM status" that was brought about by that program change. A friend of mine that flew mostly under the old program was granted MM status in 9 years flying about 50 to 60,000 actual miles a year. Of course he also was getting a minimum of 1000 miles (for at least a year he also got triple that for each leg), 1,000 miles for his rental car and 1,000 miles by staying at a Marriott). There was also the class of service bonus he got when he bought and upgrade for 1500 miles. Today it would take about 22 years or more with that same level of flying to achieve MM status. I just believe Delta would be well served to do a "real" enhancement to this benefit. New for this year: Copy what Continental does in regard to policing that the upgrade policy is followed 100% by gate agents (particularly in ATL)! Why Asked> I for one do not have much confidence that the policy if followed is some cases if the upgrade is left to what we refer to as "The Gate Lottery". It is all about the upgrades, at least for me and if I am supposed to get it then I want it. I do not expect it if it is not supposed to go to me, it really is that simple. I had others but they have already been posted. |
Do we dare bring up "Shenanigans"????

So, yes, we should ask it, but one point of this thread is to prepare the right way to pose it- we don't want to use questions to beat them over the head. That will only lead to a defensive or evasive answer. We want to pose questions so that we get answers and to get them to improve the DL product. Would anyone like to try composing that question, so we're ready come Oct. 21st? ------------- My expectation is that, at this event we won't get all the answers we want, but at least if we feel our questions have been heard and addressed honestly it will go a long way. If we come properly prepared it makes that more likely to happen. |

It has been made clear to us that any question is fair game. However, if we want a serious answer, the question will have to be stated simply and clearly, with facts to back it up.
Maybe best brought up over drinks/dinner one on one..... |

Glad you started this thread... I was thinking along the same lines.
Q: There has been a general feeling that the perks offered at the Diamond level are not exceptional causing many to deliberately hold short. There have been many suggestions to make the DM level more worthwhile such as a more generous SDC policy, a higher bonus mileage, the ability to rollover all MQMs after 75,000 even if one hit DM level, the use of SWUs at lower fare buckets on international flights etc. What are your thoughts about boosting the perks offered to DMs without detracting from the PM level? Also, there was a well received (on FT) proposal that MM status be made more meaningful by starting each year with a certain amount of MQMs (the suggestion was 25,000). What are your feelings about boosting the significance of long term loyalty? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...ion-miles.html Along the same lines, Air France has a policy that if one makes Platinum status 10 consecutive years, they will be considered Platinum for life, another way of rewarding long-term loyalty of the customer. Any chance at looking at an idea like this? |
I won't be there, but +1 on many of the above, especially SWUs and the award calendar. Someone could bring a laptop to the session, go to dl.com and try to book an award ticket, so they can watch as a green value suddenly becomes unavailable.

Recently when purchasing close in tickets on TATL routes I am finding KLUT, Y & B fares but no M. In addition, over the Thanksgiving holiday I appears to be much cheaper than M. Why not make M available so I can use my SWU? Why not float the M fare when I fares are decreased?

Can we suggest they revisit the requirement levels for segment qualifiers? It's been demonstrating through multiple threads around here that most of the time, segment qualifiers spend a good chunk more to reach each level than mid to long haul fliers.

Just food for thought but perhaps a couple of Sky Club centric questions?
1) With the loss of Continental's Presidents Clubs from the network, and some other NWA/Delta merger losses (IAD for example), what is going to be done to help address the loss of so many club locations? 2) (and maybe more a pre-question) Who is in charge of the Sky Club program and will they be present at the event? |

Any chance at looking at an idea like this? There just isn't enough differentiation between DM and PM. Allow SWUs to be used on any fare for DMs and a lot less people will hold short of 125k. Also, give people a reason to keep flying Delta after 125k, like giving another choice benefit for every XXX miles and/or segments beyond the qualification threshold. |
1) It seems lately with increasing frequency, flights are being delayed or canceled outright due to crew scheduling issues (pilot calls in sick, FAs stuck in traffic, etc.) and there are not enough replacement crew available. What is being done, if anything, to remedy this? (Beyond the recent announcement of hiring more FAs)
2) With ATL being the busiest airport in the world, it is also one of the most delayed. Even in perfect clear blue sky weather, you can end up waiting on the tarmac for 20-30 minutes for a gate to open up or for your new gate assignment. What are the plans going forward for utilizing the rest of the new, expansive network to ease some of the congestion at ATL (and JFK, to a lesser degree). (For that last question, I know the standard response will be about the FAA upgrading their radar systems, etc. to modern technologies, which is also needed, but I specifically want to know what DL is doing to address this in the meantime, as they can shift routes, planes, crew, etc. around to the other hubs to best utilize their global network) 3) In addition to the always expanding ATL, there has been a lot of expansion at JFK, DTW, and SEA in terms of international flying. What it the plan for MSP? Can we expect any fortifying of this hub, or should we expect status quo (or worse)? |
