I've taken the 747 to/from NRT a few times. Actually taking it NRT-JFK again this winter.
In BE, there is AVOD. IIRC, the same selection as the A330s. Not as modern as the 777s, but decent selection of movies and music. Food is the same as any other BE offering. I like the Japanese option ex-NRT. Overall, a very similar experience to the A330s in BE.
I definitely prefer the upper deck. A more private experience, service is usually a little better, and you get the nice windows bins on the side. 73A is the best seat as it's a bit easier to get out over your aisle seat neighbor.
