My wife redeemed 40k miles yesterday for a domestic award ticket. She is already registered for this offer as of june 24, 2010. Will she get twice the miles for all her eligible spending from June 24 till Sep 30? Or is it twice the miles miles after yesterday when she redeemed the miles?

redemption for mechandise
Can I redeem 10000 for merchandise (some sort of gift card)? I emailed delta and they don't seem to know a thing. Assuming I redeem 10000 miles by September 30th, all purchases on Delta Amex card between July 1 and September 30 should earn double miles right?
I also checked if transfer of 10000 miles would count of qualifying redemption, Delta said NO.
Thanks!

I just redeemed for an upgrade on some upcoming flights to qualify this. I am assuming this is double miles of what I already earned from AMEX during the qualifying time period.
For example, from July 1 to Sept. 30 - I earned 5,500 miles on qualifying expenditures on AMEX. $4500 normal expenditure, $500 DL ticket.
I have already earned 4500 miles and 1000 miles for these expenses, total 5500.
I qualified for the promotion. So when it posts I should earn an additional 4500 miles (double what I already earned) and 500 miles (triple what I already earned double on). So I will get an additional 5000 miles for this promotion?
In total I would have earned 4500 + 1000 + 4500 (double promo) + 500 (triple promo) = 10,500 (with the first 5500 posted normally and the additional 5000 posted 6 to 8 weeks after 9/30).

But in my mind, it's just easier to think of it as 1pt/$ extra. This amounts to 2pts/$ for normal purchases and 3pts/$ for DL purchases.
If you've got the gold card, don't forget about the 5k milesboost point bonus at $15k. No double/triple bonus on this but now's a good time to work towards that.

2x Macy's $50 cards? 10,000 Delta SM.
2x my Delta Amex spend of over 20k during the promo period? Priceless.
How soon will they credit the points?
