Multiple Upgrade Emails

Is it really necessary to receive 3 emails in a 5 day period telling me "You've been upgraded!" for the same flight? I appreciate the first one, which I signed up for. The second one, I generally ignore, but I just got the 3rd one a few minutes ago- for my flight that leaves in 45 minutes... telling me I've been upgraded to the seat I have had for 5 days- the same seat that I have held a boarding pass for for 24 hours.

Anyone else have this happen? Could it be triggered by an equipment change? It only seems to happen when I'm on a DC-9, not the CRJ-9.

Yes, I've gotten multiple "You've been Upgraded" e-mails as well. It always gets my hopes up about other flights being upgraded, and I'm always disappointed in the end. Add it to the "things to fix" list at DL IT.

Its a Delta :-:Best in Class:-: feature, no other airline goes to that extent to personally send you 3 emails to let you know the same exact thing.

Maybe they are taking a lesson from Amex on how many times they send out credit card apps.

Pre-merger, the DL notification system worked well for me. If there was a problem with a flight, they'd call home and if no one answered, they'd call my cell AND I'd get an email. Now...nothing...

Not to derail thread, but really how hard would it have been to slap a few Delta logos on Northwest's Website and keep the NWA IT team.

Most of the issues on this thread probably would have disappeared.

I can see it coming....

"in the first quarter of 2010, we are proud to announce that Delta sent out 2million emails onforming our values SM members that they'd been upgraded!!!

Even if 200 of them went to me for the same 50 flights!

I'm ok with the duplicate emails. I know it's a glitch but...it's a heck of a lot better than what I thought was going to happen when I dropped from Plat to Gold...which is no emails for no upgrades.

I've received three upgrade notifications (two in the last two hours) for the same flight that was scheduled to leave in 20 minutes. Agree that it gets my hopes up. I have ATL-DCA on Sunday. Could be my first miss of the year.

Slightly OT but I was more concerned when I received an email telling me my weather-canceled flight had been rescheduled and receiving that email 2 days after I had asked for a refund! That caused a few minutes of concern while I checked my screen shots confirming my request for refund.

Double-check your profile notification settings. I checked mine and some appeared to have been changed and I didn't change them manually.

I receive upgrade notifications twice, once to my primary e-mail and once to my within 48 hours, last-minute notifications e-mail address, even if it's three days out.

The pattern seems to be a new email when any segment gets upgraded, and an email in the wee hours of the morning three days before departure that just repeats what the prior email showed.
