Equipment upgrade timeframes posted!

I was browsing the Delta blog and found some answers posted today about estimated dates for equipment upgrades.
I was hoping some more 767-400's would be upgraded to flat beds by June when they add 767-400's to sea-ams, & JFK-IST. I'll just have to wait and see what equip they have when I fly them this summer.

Its sure nice to see answers & details being posted. Thanks DL!

Wow taking a lot longer than I expected. Seems that no flat bed conversions in 2010? Or just a limited few? That 777 used for JFK-NRT needs to go to flat bed asap.

Wow - 2013 for the bulk of their 763's. That's just sad.

How competitive is this, by the way? The 763 is the bulk of their trans-atlantic fleet, and I'm wondering why coach customers would fly DL if they could fly another carrier who provides AVOD.

The 76L fleet will take along time for two major reasons.

1. It is such a large fleet. While all will be done by mid 2013, I would expect that the first one will be done a year or more before that.

2. The 76L fleet is getting more than just new seats. I have heard all new galleys, overhead bins, sidewalls, lighting...etc. Basically a total gutting of the aircraft. The 764 and the 77E do not need this total gut and therefore can just get new seats and be done with it.

Is there a way to tell a 76T from a 76L?

Any news on the timeframe for the A330 upgrades? I read somewhere that DL was upgrading its entire INTL fleet to lie-flat seats, but I see no mention of the A330s on this blog posting.

They'll be some of the last planes to be upgraded. Some of the A330's are only a couple years old.

I was going to ask the same thing. Most 763s have 6 rows in J, but there is a rarer config that only has 5 rows.

Maybe the 5-row J config is a 76T?

Darn I was hoping the 764s would be done by the end of this summer - flying one ATL-MUC-ATL for Oktoberfest.

Why are you worried, then? You won't feel a thing.

While its good to see Delta post some sort of update and timeline to the mods, the 77E conversions, especially since some of them are flying 14+ hours, will hopefully get done before mid 2011.

Delta blog mentions the time frame of mid 2011 as far as them being completed, but it would be nice to know when the first ones will be started.

Agree... they are gonna get eaten for lunch if it takes them that long... CO is suppose to have the bulk of their fleet all lie flat by mid-2011.... ... and why can't Delta have some sort of informational page on their web site like the others (UA and CO) have regarding their installations? Can't be because it's propietary information...

According to seatguru the 5-row is a 76G.

The 6-row is listed as 767/76L/76T so I've no idea if there is a way to distinguish them, but there is no mention of the 76G in the blog post??

Has the manufacturer found a fix to the initial issues, such as the difficult tray table? Or are they still pushing forward with the original design?

Yes, and (imo) even worse, not offering AVOD for coach passengers on such a long flight is increasingly hard to excuse unless your fares are considerably lower. Do CO and others offer AVOD in coach on xatl flights? I flew CO to LHR a couple years ago on a tiny 757, but I honestly can't recall if it had AVOD.
