Flight Cancelled

I was supposed to fly on DL 6076 from BWI to JFK and then on EK0202 to DXB. The DL flight was cancelled because of the weather. The EK flight is still on but I can't get to JFK becuase the driving conditions are horrible and are no more flights from BWI to JFK. I've been trying to call DL but can't get thru. EK is telling me I'll be charged a change of date fee if I don't make their fligh becuase they are on schedule. Any advice what I can do?? I really had to get to DXB tonight.

Train is your only bet.

Unless the DL flight was booked on the same ticket as the EK, you are SOL.

If you miss your connection because of a storm why would they make you pay a change fee. All the US carriers have a weather waiver and will not charge a chnage fee in this circumstance.

The DL ticket was booked on the same ticket as the EK. I checked Amtrak but all the trains from Baltimore to New York are sold out.

Both DL flights from BWI to JFK are XLD.

LGA and EWR did not look any better.

If you can make it to Philly, you can take the commuter train to Penn Station and then you have lots of options from there...

Ok so that's a little different. Any idea what your ticket number is (please don't post the full thing)? If it starts with 006 it is Delta's responsibility to get you to DXB otherwise it's EK's and they should NOT charge you any fees.

The only option I see, at the moment is:

BWI-YYZ (air Canada)
YYZ-DXB (Emirates)

There is availability.

If all the flights from WAS to JFK are cancelled, there's no help there.

But if some flights are going but showing "sold out", try anyway. Due to the weather there's sure to be many misconnects and standby is a good possibility.

The ticket number starts 176 so I guess that's EK ticket. I am trying to have them reroute me via LHR from IAD on Virgin and then on EK from LHR. Lets see if that can be done. How can I know if there's availabilty on this route???

If you are really desperate I would just get on an Amtrak train and buy a ticket on-board. You don't need a ticket to get to the track in Baltimore, so I'd just do that and bring cash. I'm sure a lot of people who bought tickets for travel today have stayed home. Not sure if this violates Amtrak rules, but desperate times call for desperate measures

THat storm has dumped 17" in Central PArk already and is supposed to linger. Do anything that gets you away from the NE before you head over if at all possible.

There's availability on BA to LHR (1 in J, lots in Y) and then on EK to DXB.

YYZ is your BEST bet.

Yes, it is EK's (or your travel agent's) job to get you to DXB.
