First time on DL KLM codeshare
I am taking a flight from ATL to Amsterdam in January on a MD-11.
What are the inflight entertainment options in coach on this dinosaur? I would be shocked if they have upgraded the equipment with seat back TV's.
Other than using Seat Guru for seat selection, any other advice regarding flying on KLM?
Thanks.

Actually, I believe the MD-11s have AVOD installed at every seat.
The rest of the in-flight experience should be pretty standard, though I haven't flown the MD-11 (the 747s are pretty bleak. I find KLM efficient, but nothing special. Seating can be quite tight, though. They are, however, rolling out a Y+ product, for which you get a 50% discount as a PM. Info here:

This is definitely no dinosaur. The AVOD is very nice and the overhead bins are extremely large and spacious for your carryons. I flew 8A, right behind business and it was a very comfy ride.

Hi aclc,
On which day are you flying? I've been a regular on the KL ATL-AMS flight and it has always been an Airbus 330 for me.
Cheers,
GenevaFlyer
PS = As a footnote, yes, the MD-11 have been refurbished nicely with full AVOD.

Are you "taking that MD-11" along as your excess baggage?
DL says 1/4 "Delta 9375 Airbus Industrie A330-200 operated by Klm Royal Dutch Airlines"
I've done that KLM from ATL. Great plane, pretty blue interior, comfortable Y seats with IFE, better than DL quality food, free drinks. You will have a nice time. Just plan on taking the MD-11 another day. KL used to run one daily from MEM, but I think it is dropped and NW now runs the route with their A330.

Now that is funny! However, reservation and seat map reflect the MD-11.

for the AMS/ATL route, KLM beats the crap outta Delta. I did this route on the way to Finland last week. On DL, I got no entertainment in coach (just an overhead that I couldn't see). And the service was sub-par. On the KLM return (Delta leaves AMS too early to make a connection for me) I had AVOD, and great selections. I forgot how funny Taxi and MTM were, as well as Hill Street Blues.
How can Delta pretend to be best in class when they still fly planes over the ocean without AVOD, that can't be defended.

Time to close the loop on this.
It was a MD-11 that KLM used today for my flight into AMS. And to all who responded, I stand corrected calling this plane a dinosaur. I had an economy plus seat with tons of leg room, AVOD was great (much wider selection than DL) and the food and service was far above average.
Highly recommended.
