Upgrade sweep running earlier?

I just got upgraded on thursday flights. With Delta holding more first class seats for the battlefield, I thought I wasn't even having a chance to get upgraded in advance. Have never seen the upgrades clearing this early. Is it just because of the holiday?

no it is not an uncommon occurrence but you shouldn't expect it (although I have come to expect it )

As an FO, I have frequently gotten upgrades on DL operated and NW operated flights 2 days before departure, which is one great thing about DL ^

Off Topic

I didn't want to start a new thread so I post this here, a little off topic... was DL running an MQM bonus in April-May-June of this year? I was going over my account and noticed that I received more MQMs than miles flown on flights over those months.

Thanks if anyone remembers.

Yes. 2x MQM on H/Q/K and 3x MQM on J/C/D/S/I/F/A/Y/B/M for flights between March 23 and June 15, if you registered for the promotion.

Seems to be sporadic... I got upgraded a few hours ago for a Mon morning flight, so thats 6 days out which is what I was used to before the merger (5 days before check in).
For FO you'd clear 1 day before check in, so today could be expected for a thurs flight.

I'd think that flights on thanksgiving should be very light for elites.

I got upgraded 6 days out this week for my MSY-ATL-CVG flights on Saturday. Pretty full in coach, very open in first, so I guess they just make some room to sell some more expensive coach tickets. Works for me.^

They always clear around 9 PM 2 days out, today I got the notification around 4 PM, that's what I was very surprised.

I've seen that if F is wide open and Y is full or oversold they sometimes upgrade earlier to open up more seats in Y.

If they think they can sell a high price coach seat (as opposed to an even higher price biz seat) they will UG some early. I think they track attempts to purchase seats and search trends then massage the UG list to help sales.

Programs: Now just a lowly DL PM/1MM. This industry needs some competition. It's just not enjoyable anymore.

I'm also going to guess that Thursday is not a heavy elite travel day, so upgrades are probably plentiful on that day. They probably ran the sweep to include Thursday for everyone a little earlier.

Had an email this morning for my flight on Tuesday showing that I'm now in F. R9 inventory on my flight on Wednesday, so we'll see if I clear that tomorrow morning.

Thumbs up Yes!

Upgrades are indeed being processed earlier... about four hours earlier (or so).

Since hitting Plat in the early summer, I have always been upgraded six days out, but usually around 8 or 9 pm MT. It's now happening between 3:30 and 4:30 pm MT.^^^^

I was confirmed for a flight on Saturday more than 24 hours before the usual window.

Still 10 seats open in FC so that may have helped get the earlier upgrade.
