On Flyertalk the policy is to PM the mods of the forum if you have a question and not to address the forum as a whole.

In the Delta Forum it is allowed to do exactly that, but one should use the thread created for that purpose: Moderators Guilty of Premature Evacuation.

I've actually never bothered to read that thread.

I was thinking about chiming in on the original thread, and didn't - so here goes my 2 cents. . .

I also feel almost exactly the same way about my SM number. After using my WP # for YEARS and YEARS, I thought I'd have trouble memorizing my SM number as it just seemed like a huge endless number that doesn't have a seemingly "catchy rhyme" to it, but I "DID IT", too!! I finally memorized mine!!

As to the "M" word - - It also has always seems like a silly word. To me, Medallion is a NYC taxi cab. "Elite" always seemed a tad hoidy toidy to me. It felt a little strange doing Elite early boarding wondering what all of the infrequent non-elite travelers were thinking about us Elites, as they STARED at us - like the Chosen People - who get to board first - what did THEY do to be so ELITE!! Do I have a better suggestion? I'll hafto think about it! That should be a whole new thread, but would probably be closed, too!

Regarding the "M" word. It differentiates Delta from the others.

CO - Elite Status, EQMs
UA - Elite Members, EQMs, EQSs
AA - Elite Status, EQMs, EQPs, EQSs
NW (former) - Elite Status, EQMs

DL - Medallion, MQMs, MQSs
US - Preferred, Preferred Miles, Preferred Segments
