DM by segments
Have seen many people here reaching DM by crossing the miles threshold. Are there any getting there by the number of segments? I'll be at 120 this week and since I'm taking my vacation in November it's unlikely I'll get to 140 segments. Would be interesting though.

Not I. At 92 now and plan to stop at 100. I've already started experimenting with other air carriers as well as Amtrak. I probably could've done some runs to get to 140 but don't see the point.

132 after tonight, with another 2 on Thursday, then another 16 booked thru the end of Nov. (December not booked yet). Sitting on 116K MQM now, wondering which threshhold I cross first.

Segments definitely difficult to achieve DM IMO
I'm already double DM (250K MQM) on the year and only 118 segments by the end of this week. I'll likely get to 140 segments by the end of this year but it will be very close whereas with MQM's I'll likely be close to 275K by the end of the year. Of course this is also partially due to the triple MQM bonus and a TATL to Mumbai during that time in M but even with most of my travel being domestic I see 140 segments being difficult to achieve. Think about it...
Travel from a hub weekly to one location = 2 segments
50 weeks @ 2 segments = 100 for the year
Even with connections like me via ATL = 4 segments per trip
35 weeks of travel needed to hit 140 segments

To get Diamond in 35 weeks in miles you would have to fly 3570 miles a week (1785 each way, more than 3 hours).
This is of course if you are not stiffing clients with YBM fares.

I'm sitting at 140 segments and (only) about 105,000 MQM's. All earned by flying (roughly) 4 segments every week January through September. Thankfully the bulk of my travel is done for the year, so I only anticipate adding 4 or 6 more segments by 12/31.

Even if you're a 4 segment a week person, that's still 35 weeks of travel - a good bit of up and down BIS time.

I'll end the year with about 126 MQS, 102k MQMs. Was on track for 140 segments on the nose with 110ishMQMs, but a few of trips got postponed to '10.
All were hard earned domestic with 68 on CRJ100/200's so far. Isn't there a Purple Medallion for my butt for all those?

Currently at 128 segments and will be close to 140 by EOY but not really paying attention to it. 180k MQMs put me into DM land a long time ago.
I would have done 140 a while ago but gave a bunch of business to AA.

I am sitting at 138 segments now and just about to clear the 140 threshold next week. I will end the year with about 146 - 150 segments and 125K BIS miles. Now I am trying to raise my status on other lines as well, too, for when I get stuck flying to non-DL cities. I read a lot of griping about DL on this board but there is nothing like flying on other carriers' metal to make you appreciate our little airline.

Not really I am sitting at 170 or so on DL, and have had issues the last month or so of only getting half credit on segments. Fly out Monday AM client site after lunch All day Tuesday client, Tuesday night Fly to next client Wed/ Thursday meetings Fly home Thursday night. 6 Segments a week. Works out to almost 300 a year. As long as they are short flights it is not that bad. A long flight to me is anything with meal service. I have only had a couple all year The issue I worry about is weather in ATL. One delay can through my whole schedule off for the week.
