Cruise line, duration, destinations and acceptance, any covid issues, port of departure and end port. Special issues involving tours

We are sitting on deposits for 3 long cruises (17-28 days). The first, remaining cruise is in Jun 2022.

I don�t follow a lot of cruise lines, actually only interested in Silversea right now because we prefer all inclusive smaller luxury ships. We also have enough days on Silversea to get some extras like free laundry. Right now I think they have four of their classic ships out doing Alaska out of Seattle, the Med out of Athens (Greek islands only), British Isles out of South Hampton (?), and Iceland. I think they have one of their expedition ships doing the Galapagos. For the most part it would appear passengers are allowed to tour on their own now after initially being limited to ship sponsored tours only. I am not aware of any Covid cases on Silversea so far. As for cancellations the situation is still very fluid. Some countries and ports are opening while others are closing. Read this morning that Britain is barring Americans effective tomorrow so that is going to put a damper on upcoming trans Atlantic cruises. Doesn�t�t help that the US is closed to the Brits. Also have seen that some of the upcoming Asian season cruises are on hold, not exactly cancelled but not available for booking. The mass market lines are doing some cruises in the Caribbean but I haven�t paid much attention to which ones or where they are going. I do recall one of the Carnival ships out of Galveston having at least one older lady come down with Covid. She was flown back to the US from Belize and subsequently passed away. Truth is it is still too much of a mess out there for us. We miss cruising but right now I don�t know when we�ll cruise again. For sure not soon.

I'm cruising this Saturday on Celebrity Edge out of Port Everglades. A friend is onboard now having an amazing time.

AMAWaterways is doing European River cruises. Great reviews from passengers as they are sailing with reduced capacity and tourism has not returned to high levels in many of the towns.

Alaska cruises round trip from Seattle on Princess, HAL, Celebrity, Silversea, Norwegian are sailing in September and October. Some great last minute pricing.

Bermuda sailings out of New York and Boston on several lines.

Most are requiring full vaccination and are sailing at reduced capacity--which can make it a more delightful experience.

Carnival is offering cruises out of several ports. I know they are sailing from Galveston and Canavral and believe also Miami. I'm sure they're currently active in other ports.

I don't think UK departures account for that many westbound TATLs. Ports around the Mediterranean seem to carry the lion's share, and those are all still sailing. There are also lots of non-American passengers that take cruises, so the impact shouldn't be all that large.

Pretty much every cruise line is up and running at some capacity.

Looking over the rest of the year on Vacations To Go out of the UK, I see three TATLs in November (Celebrity Silhouette, Regal Princess, and Sky Princess) and in December a roundtrip on the QM2. I guess that's not a lot by pre-COVID standards...

• 2 countries are closed entirely to U.S. travelers (Bulgaria and Norway).
• 2 countries are closed to unvaccinated U.S. travelers but open to vaccinated ones–Finland and Malta.
• 9 countries have quarantine requirements for unvaccinated American travelers (the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, and England).
• 29 countries are open to U.S. vaccinated travelers.
