It is not the missing of a port, that happens. It is collecting to pay the port fees, not having to pay them and keeping the money rather that refunding it. In all my cruise experience this has not happened. I thought
it might be a USA thing, or they just are cheating. Our ship is only one of several ships this company operates. One is twice the size and more as to passengers. So if this is their practice, is could be a lot of
money. In any case it should not be an incentive to the cruise line. To me the port fee is like a deposit, refundable if not supplied. Anyway, it is not enough for me to chase. Maybe when I was younger and hungerer.
Still no reply from cruise company

So the letter and two calls...finally I received a response.
Basically, they said the port fees are not by port but an amount that does not change just because they skip a one or more!
It then follows that when a port is missed, all the entry fees and transportation they do not incur but were included in our fare, these too are costs that do not change
Somehow the cruise line saves tens of thousands of dollars at the customers loss, but that is okay.
You decide.

I think we understood your complaint from the beginning. And my point was that, in fact, cruise companies do NOT necessarily refund the port fees for missed ports. I've experienced that myself, and there are a seemingly huge number of complaints about this on CruiseCritic. So, all your cruise experience is not the totality of everyone's cruise experience.
