World Elite Mastercard

So this is the official card being pimped by Virtuoso, but the only publicly available version of it I can find is the Saks Fifth Avenue card, which is benefit-centric for people who shop a Saks a lot. I am not one of those people.

I know there is an Ameriprise Card (but I'm not an Ameriprise customer). There's also a Sotheby's card, but I have been told it's by invitation only. Plus I have ZERO connection to using Sotheby's for anything.

Is there a "regular" version of this card or at least a version tied to a more normal company?

My Citi Chairman MC is a WORLD ELITE card. Really no big deal.

It is not available anymore.

Wow, now we have World Elite in Mexico. Santander bank in Mexico just introduced the Santander World Elite Marstercard card. It is only by invitation to customers of private banking (Santander Mexico).

The thing is, they told me this is the only World Elite in Mexico and that Visa offers through the banks in Mexico a Visa Infinite, but not a Visa Signature. So we do not have World Mastercards in Mexico and we get only one World Elite Mastercard and it has a line of credit.

I think in the US, a World Elite isnt a full revolving credit card, am I correct?

So is there a consensus on whether Visa Signature or MC World Elite have the better advantages? Or does it depend on the specific card offered by the specific issuer?

It's similar to the old card: http://s.credit.com/assets/img/credi...card-elite.jpg but instead of a light-colored circular area in the center, there's a light-colored horizontal band.

My Chairman MC did not change at all...it just says WORLD ELITE in all caps on the back side...In fact, my dad has a card in his name and in GRU, he went to a really nice lounge and they asked for a WEMC. He showed them Chairman and they said NO. Then she flipped it over and they said --- pls come on in !!

Here's a shot of the flyer that comes with it; it shows what the card looks like:

Does anyone know if...

1. The Citi Premier Pass (non-elite version) is also a World Elite MC
2. Is Citi issuing WEMC to new cardholders or just when it re-issues existing cards?

Thanks.

Question about Virtuoso

Do you have to be a member of some sort to use Virtuoso? I thought you could call them up direct and use the service. Please advise.
