Continental credit card

Are there any credit cards out there that offer Continental miles with the first year free????? Since the word on the street is that Continental and UAL may merge, I was thinking about getting a Continental credit card and associated sign up miles. Could then merge the accounts once the merger happens.

Amtrak has a no-fee card that gives you 5000 points which I believe can be transferred 1-1 to CO with no fee . I posted recently on the CO forum and there does not seem to be a way around the annoying $85 fee..

Just call up chase and ask them to waive the first year. Say you received the targeted ad in the mail but misplaced it.

Nope. It won't work, at least for me it didn't. I called three times & spoke to a super. too.

OP--Just pay Chase the $85 fee for the card and enjoy the 20K, cheap, miles. http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc...rld&page=index

They also have a CO business card. For another $85 you'll have 40K miles.

I've been getting Chase offers for months (if not a year) for a Continental credit card with a 20,000 sign-up bonus and the annual fee waived for the first year. I haven't taken them up on their offers yet since I don't fly Continental.

The minute the $85 charge was put on my account, I called them up and told them I was pretty sure the first year was free... it wasn't, but they went ahead and credited the $85 back to me so I did get the first year free. Perhaps I just got lucky in who I spoke with.

It can be done. I just don't know how often you will get the same response I did.

Sincerely,
Mr. Chris

My wife receives the same thing every few months, but I have yet to get one myselfy despite the fact that I frequently fly CO, and she rarely does. There is no way they will let me use her code to apply. I have tried a number of times. What we could do is have her apply and add me as an additional card member.

I canceled my Continental CC about two years ago. If I get another one will I get the 20K miles?
