Question Looking for new Rewards card... PLS HELP!

Hello all!

Can anyone give me some advice as to which rewards cc I should apply for.
I am looking for primarily frequent flyer miles/ hotel rewards.

I would also like 0% on balance transfers for longest time period. No fees for Bal transfers also desireable.

No annual fee would be nice but could live with one.

Big enrollment award...Maybe?

I might be describing the perfect VISA/MC but with all the offers out there it may just exist?

Who knows--- maybe you do!

Thanks for your help!

Miles Earning & 0% Bal Xfer are generally Mutually Exclusive

IMHO, based on what you posted, you do not want to use the same credit card for rewards earned on purchases and 0% on balance transfers, unless that card also offers 0% APR on purchases for the same time period. This is because the balance transfer balance may enjoy a 0% APR, however your purchase balance will have a high APR and the balance transfer balance gets paid down first.

If your FICO score is good, you ought to get one card with a low interest rate & 0% bal xfer for that balance and a separate card for rewards earning points on purchases.

As to which rewards card ... that would depend on your travel expectations and needs, as well as if you are trying to accumulate with a specific program.

Hope this helps get you started.

There are lots of threads on this and similar topics. Try a search, especially in MilesBuzz. (I know the search function isn't the greatest; try "best mileage cards" or variations.) As a start, check out pgary's blog on the subject:

That's Gary Leff's blog, not mine. I am Gary Steiger. But do check out the Credit Card section of my website, Free Frequent Flyer Miles. My favorite miles cards are listed near the top. A good 0% balance transfer card is the MyPoints card.

My bad. Sorry 'bout that. Thanks for the correction. (Do all Gary's have a credit card website/bolg?)

Check out Citibank PremierPass Elite MasterCard. The $75/yr fee is more than offset by 15,000 bonus points, double actual miles flown, unlimited free domestic companion tickets, and lots more. Best program out there.

I just applied for a Citibank Diamond Preferred Rewards Card. It's been advertised in our local newspaper the last two Sundays. The strange thing is I had to call an 800 number to sign up, no web sign up provided. But, here's what they offered:

-- 0% balance xfr till Feb 06
-- $100 gift card to stores like Home Depot (I think they actually give you 10,000 pts for the new Citibank thankyouredemption.com network which could also be used for air travel)
-- $0 annual fee

You can view info about it here, though the sign up bonus in the newspaper was 2x better. http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/car...mond/index.jsp
