NEA/MBNA Changes - Reward Processing

Just a heads-up: at least for hotels and rental cars, MBNA is now just crediting the card with $$ rather than remitting funds to the hotel or rental car agency.

We booked a week's rental car for March, 2002 and just noticed a $300 credit (9,000 points) to our NEA/MBNA Mastercard account. Same for an enroute hotel -- $110 credit (3,000 points).

This makes more sense than the previous method of sending vouchers.

Don't know if they're doing this for flights though.

I also just cashed in some points and received the credit to my account. This is just another reason to call this the best credit card rewards program around. It also makes it all the more painfull to drop once those ridiculous changes kick in.

Absolutely. It goes from the best to a very weak also-ran. What a crying shame!

I booked a one-night stay for October recently. The room is guaranteed, the charge has not appeared on my card, but the credit for $110 (3,000 points) (the room was less than that) has appeared on my card.

I booked a two-night stay for the end of August about a week later. The room is guaranteed, the charge has hit my card, but the credit (8,000 points, $310) (the room was slightly more than that) has not appeared.

I wonder which way is correct.
