End of C2IT as we Know It

C2IT, the Citibank pay by email service that lets you send money to anyone with an email address, is raising it's fees. Just like Paypal and others in this business, they are making their pricing structure unattractive for mileage collectors. Previously, the fee to email money from your Citibank Aadvantage Mastercard to "someone" was a flat $2. You could send up to $500 a day, but no more than $1000 every four days. If you have been following along with me, you realize that credit card debits result in miles posted to your American Airlines account.
Sending $25,000 in cash over time, enough for a ticket, would cost you a mere $100. After April 30th, 2001 the fee will be raised to 2% of the amount sent. This makes it not such a good deal if you are collecting miles, as 2% of $25,000, enough for the magic 25,000 miles and a ticket, would come to $500. But, it is still free for the first 3 months of use for new users.

The new fee for CitiBank credit card user is 1%. So the fee is just 1% for AA Mileage card.

If it's still free for 90 days for new users is it possible to close up your account and then become a "new" user again?

I have often found it hard to leave an internet service, once they have your credit card number. There is just no "I want outta here" link on the page

Fortunately, in this case there does seem to be a way to leave the c2it program. Just call the phone number in the Citibank text quoted below and "withdraw your consent:" "To enroll in c2itsm you must consent to receiving and accepting the c2itsm Terms and Conditions and any amendments electronically. Your history of transactions as well as transaction confirmations will only be made available electronically. You may withdraw your consent to having this information provided to you electronically by telephoning us at 800-200-3881; however, your c2itsm Membership will be terminated if you do so. If your e-mail address changes you will need to re-enroll in c2itsm."

More info at http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/, click on c2it
