Predicting New Credit Card First Statement Date ?
Wondering if there’s a way to reliably predict the first statement date for a new credit card. I thought it might be a predictable number of days from approval date but tracking my last 10 Chase cards and last 10 AmEx cards and last 3 BOA cards over the past 3-4 years, there’s no rhyme or reason. The numbers are all over the place. Chase and AmEx personal cards are more consistent.
Number of days between approval and originally scheduled first statement:
Chase personal: 30, 23, 29, 30, 31
Chase biz: 29, 46, 22, 39
AmEx personal: 31, 30, 32, 27
AmEx biz: 16, 11, 30, 34, 21, 26
BOA biz: 31, 34
BOA personal: 13 (Highly annoying, took 10 days to receive the card so the first statement was 3 days later. Figured I’d wait 4-5 days to start using the card and get the first statement with a zero balance. WRONG, first statement ONLY had the $50 or $75 annual fee
.)
I know I can request a different date once the account is open but I had a terrible experience doing that with AmEx earlier this year. Ended up having to meet the minimum spend twice to get the SUB due to it not posting on the first statement 2 months away (which also messed up future churn timing).

This slight variation might be due to the fact that Chase does not issue statements which would result in a Due Date of the 29th, 30th or 31st of the month? The statement dates have a fixed relationship to the due date, but it is different for personal and business cards. I have all of our Chase accounts set to close the the 3rd. This means the Business cards are all due of the 25th, and the personal cards on the 28th.

Understood the variation for personal cards might be explained that way but the biz card variation defies logic (not that I expect logic from a credit card issuer
).

Update to the first post of this thread based on a bunch of new cards (mainly AmEx NLL biz golds and biz plats) during the intervening 22 months.
Number of days between approval and originally scheduled first statement:
Chase personal: 30, 23, 29, 30, 31, 27, 15
Chase biz: 29, 46, 22, 39, 20, 29, 18, 30, 14
AmEx personal: 31, 30, 32, 27
AmEx biz: 16, 11, 30, 34, 31, 26, 31, 31, 30, 20, 26, 14, 14, 28, 28, 31, 30, 18
BOA biz: 31, 34, 32, 32, 24
BOA personal: 13
Wells Fargo Bilt MC: 27
AmEx biz (mainly NLL golds and plats) remains the most inconsistent with occasional consistency when both NLL biz plat and NLL biz gold are approved on the same day (first statements will be on the same day whether it’s 14 days later or 30 days later). I reviewed my data carefully to see if there's any trend based on approval day/time of month (early, middle, late) and did not see anything.
