Smile Need another AA branded card soon

Good Morning.

I am looking to apply for another AA brand CC in February (hopefully). Expecting an HP to finally fall off this year.

I have had Citi AA Gold, Citi AA Plat, and Barclay Aviator (Red). All were closed in 2016. And, of course, I need a bonus offer.

Barclay is my best bet due to CL distribution. Score should be fine.

Is there not a way to apply directly for a different Barclay AA branded card other than Aviator? I can't find the link to it.

Well meaning advice and info appreciated. Thanks for replies.

PS Should I not eliminate Citi from consideration? I only have HH and Simplicity left with them open.

OK, maybe I should add a question

If my Aviator Red was via USMC, my bonus actually came from the prior. Does that technically mean I didn't actually RECEIVE my bonus from Barclay and MIGHT be eligible to just apply for same Aviator card with the current bonus?

You will need to wait 2 years from the closing date of your last Citi AA card before you are eligible to get another AA bonus with them.

Barclays does not currently have this same rule as far as I know. So you may be able to get another Aviator Red Card with them now.

I have not seen a direct link to get their Aviator Silver card. The only way I know to do so is to first get a Red card and then upgrade it to Silver if this is something you care to do.

Barclays issued the USMC, before it got converted to the AA Red Card. therefore I am confused with by your last comment, unless it was a really old card that was BofA (I think) from many years ago?

All of our Aviator Reds, until a month ago, came via the USMC, and Barclays issued both. There is no prior bank in this scenario.

Thanks for both replies.

I just forgot the sponsor bank for the US MC. It's been awhile...

How can people be up to 5? Citi has the 2/65 day policy.

probably doing one for them and one for their wife. citi appears to be inconsistent when enforcing "rules"; not like chase and 5/24

Yes, g8trgr8t, I think you're confused as to what some people have "5" of.

There are two different loopholes currently for the Cit 24-month language.

One loophole is that link, which is very new (just a few weeks old). But the other loophole is snail mail (not electronic) targeted offers (aka "mailers").

Some people in the Citi AA Plat thread have been getting those targeted physical mailers (and successfully applying through them) repeatedly over the course of the past year, and are up to 5 on those. (Up until recently, the names between who got the mailer and who applying through it didn't even have to match, but lately Citi seems to have tightened down on name matching.)

No one is yet up to anywhere near 5 solely on the relatively-new untargeted link.

There are two USA issuers of AA co-branded cards, each with its own products, policies and practices. Read the Wikipost at the top of each thread to get an overview of the current offers and issues. Then then read a few weeks' posts to have a sense of how things are changing:

Barclays card is discussed here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credi...iator-40k.html

Citi cards are discussed here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/citi-...24-months.html
