I don't have any UnionPay cards personally but the discussion in this thread so far has mainly been about the cards listed here.

I saw a logo for this card at a local Chinese restaurant tonight:

The card is issued for Easy Transfer, a Chinese payments company. It appears to be marketed to overseas Chinese university students, so I imagine it's not something someone in general could apply for?

Annual fee: $170. Yuck! :) They are indeed geared towards Chinese college kids who are here in the U.S., because you get a Visa Signature card (which you can't really get back home in China). Not a UnionPay. You're already here and can probably get better deal on a Visa Signature. :)

My $0.02.

FYI, ICBC UnionPay cards just announced extra cashback through the end of September for online and supermarket (1.5%) purchases and 3% extra for online food delivery for the Premier card and 1% and 2%, respectively, for these categories on the Preferred card.

I'd trade these promos for Alipay and Wechat pay support. lol

Still nice to have.

This is capped at $75 in additional cashback each month for the Gold card and $150 for the Platinum card.

There's also an offer at 99 Ranch for $5 off a purchase of $50 or more. The promotion is good Monday through Friday through September 30th, and the card must be presented to the cashier.

Don't know if anyone has brought it up, but I also came across a Union Pay prepaid card issued by East West Bank (a bank mainly serving the Chinese-American community in the LA area)

https://www.eastwestbank.com/en/pers...y-prepaid-card

Fees and terms not the best, but technically it is another "US based UnionPay card"

Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen you on FT in awhile, so welcome back!

Whoa, thats amazing. I didn't get any mailer or email about this promo and I don't see it on the website. Where did u see this? The Terms don't state this outright just give more details about the semantics of the promo.

For Amazon, thats 10k in spend at 5% to hit the $500 cap.

Edit: Found it

Anyone used this card recently in safeway? It didn't work any more for me.

Looks like the problem in on safeway's side, because I just used it on amazon before the safeway issue.

We are applying for our Dragonpass passes in HK with our ICBC cards https://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/show/33627?page=1

The same offer applies for US as well - wonder if you get the same 6 visits https://institution.dragonpass.com.cn/icbc-intl/index/ ?

I haven't tried it at a Safeway in quite some time. Perhaps it's because Safeway doesn't support PBOC? I know Walmart does. The last time at Safeway it still did a fallback transaction over the Discover networking (or allowed a PIN-based debit style transaction.

Yes, the fallback was exactly what I was using all the time, to get cash out like an ATM card :)

Seems like the loophole is no more?
