AAA Member Rewards Visa
Couldn't find any thread on this card.
Just got an AAA member Rewards Visa CC offer.
3x on airfare, hotel and auto club membership.
2x on grocery, gas and drug store purchase.
1x on everything else.
There's no limit on any of the categories.
No AF. Points can be redeemed for cash, travel etc.
What do you folks think about this one?

The website contains slightly different language than what you have included. For example, you list membership as a 3x category but the website says "qualifying AAA and travel purchases."
You also mention that you can redeem for cash back, travel, etc. but the website only lists cash back as a redemption option.
As a straight cash back card (and at first glance), it looks like a good rival to the Costco AMEX. Maybe even slightly better because groceries qualifies for double points and airfare/hotel are 3x.

The site provides a popup, which says 3x applies to purchases at AAA, as well as "(a) Airlines; (b) Car Rental Agencies; (c) Hotels, Motels, Inns and Resorts; (d) Steamship/Cruise Lines; and (e) Travel Agencies". They listed the specific MCCs for each, which I've omitted here.
One thing that makes me nervous is that they speak of earning "points", not "cash", so do we know it's a "straight cash back card"? I have a different card where a "point" is redeemable for between .81 and .85 cents depending on how I redeem, so you need to make sure...

The card is issued by Bank of America/FIA and carries a 2% foreign transaction fee. Some graphics on the site (like on the application page) show an EMV chip while others don't.
As far as cash back goes, I found this in the fine print: "The current redemption value for cash rewards check or deposits into a checking or savings account is 1% of the amount of the points redeemed." So it sounds like 1 point = 1 cent.
Also note that AAA Northern California, Nevada, and Utah purchases won't qualify for triple points, nor does AAA insurance (including trip insurance) or extended auto warranties. Really, any service that AAA sells but is provided by a third party provider won't qualify for triple points. Nor will any sort of rail purchase.
