Open to critique of recent AOR attempt
Ok, here goes. I waited months to get to a point where the DH and I had fewer inquiries so we could finally approach the plate and swing the bat.
But, alas, I think I did everything wrong or at least out of order. Was trying to get some of those short lived extra bonus offers and I concentrated on Chase because we bank with them and their cards were of interest. We have cards with them already, also.
What I got was "out of priority" cards approved with lavish credit lines and turn downs of what I hoped for. And, I thought one inquiry would cover all apps. Here is what I applied but the order is not necessarily correct.
1. Freedom (an easy $100 CB but I would like the recent expired $125 one) Approved
2. Sapphire (?)
3. United MP Visa (?)
3. Marriott (got pulled in by the 70K bonus offer) Approved
I already have WN VISA (AF due in Nov.), Slate, and am an AU on DH's Freedom, Amazon, and United MP Visa.
Would like to call reconsideration line to "negotiate" (for lack of a better word) back to the cards I wanted and split those credit lines. I mean, a Marriott VISA with $27K, really? And, if I keep such a card, I want the best bonus possible, which of late, should be 70k in points.
On a happier note, my DH was approved for the Barclay Arrival on his own, which frees mine for when the year is up and I can let it go, if I have to. And, my son (23 years old, part time work) is courted like crazy for credit. I wanted him to go for Chase WN but the income really is too low although the $0 monthly "house payment" is noteworthy. He gets good offers, though.
While I would appreciate kind advice, I can handle the harsh critique for the purpose of learning. I also share so that others can avoid what I did. Thanks.
Update: so far, I have called automated app status line shown in Wiki. Automated response was too generic; transferred to live rep. She can't tell me which Visa was disapproved.

You have to spread out multiple apps across different card issuers.
Most companies will not approve multiple apps to different card products on the same day. Chase only allows two apps per 30 days. That is why you see most people's AORs look like:
Citi Exec
Chase Sapphire
USBank Club Carlson
Wells Fargo Propel
You got two approved because of their rules - the others will be denied. As examples, Citi would auto deny all but one app on the same day (1 card per 8 days, 2 cards per 65 days), as would AmEx.

Thanks for replies.
SO, what do I do with this $27K Marriott CL? How long should I wait before I request a portion be transferred elsewhere, like my WN Visa, for instance?
And, does anyone have a data point that some cards are just plain easier to get and thus the approvals knocked the others out of consideration?
Was also advised no free night e-cert since I had the card before (didn't have opportunity to use the cert) even though it's been 4+ years since it was closed.

Never hurts to ask I guess

No, but if you got approved for 27k you should have gotten the cards you applied for first, but I am assuming you bunched them all together at same time.

Advice.....Firstly, I would spend some serious time reading this forum, which if you would have done prior to your AOR it would have saved you some issues. Never apply for 4 cards from same issuer on same day. Spread them out and I never do more than 1 personal and 1 business per bank, but typically just one or the other per bank every 3ish months. Chase has closed all of peoples accounts shortly after trying for so many new cards at once (you look very credit needy, which they do not like)...so pray that does not happen to you.

Thanks for the last response.
Update:
Contacted Recon Line. I used the 2nd no. down in the WIKI (Chase Consolidated thread).
They do not have any app for the CSP. None. I don't have an explanation, either.
While it is true that they don't often approve more than two at a time, they can make adjustments based on certain factors. The rep offered to do that for me. It looks like it was a process of elimination rejection because the other two (Marriott, Freedom) got first dibs. Then, the UA was rejected.
However, it was given a review and I was approved. They transferred the Marriott portion of the CL and I will receive a UA with $7K. That's fine. My opinion on this is that there is a hard marketing push for the UA card right now and that's why I easily got the 2nd look.
The thing the rep could not do was cover the new and better 50K UA miles bonus. But, I can check again when I receive the card.
I then asked if I could apply for the CSP in 30 days. Rep responded that he cannot offer advice on apps but with the time I would have with the three new ones, I would establish a use pattern which would then help to assess the CSP app later on. Of course, that does not take into account the first credit review. I think he meant if I am rejected and then call in for a 2nd review.
I will contact customer service to have that Marriott CL divided up some more, too.
Great customer service. I think I would clone that rep three times and send to AMEX, BOA, and somewhere else, too.

What will your bonuses be, and for what spend? (Marriott not looking so good on this end)
FWIW there should be no mysteries. The typical procedure is to make a screenshot of the screen with the button you click on to launch the application (which will have the details of the bonus), then another screenshot of what comes up after you've completed the application. Another thing that eliminates is the "They do not have any app for the..."
Also is it possible there's a bit too much aggressiveness in getting bonuses (DH Arrival, for example) at the expense of degrading average-age-of-account?

Second question: That's a fair assessment. Perhaps the DH Arrival is enough.
We are moving sometime, thought it was going to be in the fall but the DH had to return overseas in July. A while back, we did our house hunting trip out of state and used miles, points, and after the fact, travel redemptions. But, couldn't find a home and couldn't have moved in so quickly, if we had. So, we will have to repeat at that and I want to be prepared with miles, points, and redemption strategies again. Sure beats draining the savings account. Not to mention those trips I make to check on my disabled sister who does not take care of herself well with her medicines.
Thanks for the post.
