credit error fixed - how long to wait to reapply?
hi folks,
i'm a newb and jumped the gun on my first round of applications - i'm 36, have had great credit since i was 18, never been rejected for a card, and so didn't even bother to check my credit report. BAD IDEA.
there was an error on all of my credit reports because of a bank reporting error, so i got rejected on 2 of my three applications (chase still gave me the love, maybe because i have a checking account with them?). once i figured this out, i wrote the bank and got them to acknowledge the problem and notify the credit report companies of the error, so everything's fixed now and credit sesame puts me at 794.
so my question is, do i need to wait the full three months for my next round of apps? i'm still 6 weeks shy of that, but i've already hit the spend on the chase united card, and i've got some trips coming up that i really want to get miles for, so i'm anxious to get moving. but of course i don't want to make ANOTHER newb mistake and screw things up even more.
i've searched all over these forums and online and i haven't really found anything on this particular issue. anyone ever have a similar experience? or insight? thanks!

What are the two cards that rejected your apps? You can call the recon line for them, explain what happened, and ask them to run your credit again if they want to double check (or offer to send them documentation of the bank error/correction if you want to avoid more hard pulls).
Glad you caught the error and the bank was able to set things right.

Yea I would give it sometime before applying. I work in the credit industry. It doesn't hurt to pull it once in a while. It negatively impacts after a while with hits... If you pay your bills ontime and in full you're fine. That's the kicker.

thanks. it was barclays and capital one - i don't even really want the cap1 anymore, but i do want the barclays. i never even thought about calling the reconsideration line 6 weeks later - i guess it's worth a shot.
i also wonder if i tried a new round of apps and got some rejections, a call to the reconsideration line with an explanation of what all happened would work?

I was in the same boat as OP. I knew something was wrong when I was rejected for a card. I waited a month to figure it out and then it took 2 months to fully resolve, when I requested the company not to repull its representative stated that it could only do that within 30d notwithstanding full documentation.
