You generally cannot transfer between airlines, but you can use them to book other alliance partner flights.
Eg transfer to BA and book an AA flight under BA program rules.

Where you are best transferring your CC points depends on where you want to travel and which programs you can transfer to.

Question Where to transfer Points?

My credit card will not transfer points to miles for American or United. What are the pros and cons of transfering miles to a One World, Skymiles or Star Alliance partner and then using thess miles to transfer miles to the domestic carrier American, United or Delta. Usually use miles for long haul international travel. Have several thousand i want to transfer from credit card. (200+). Don't want to transfer and then not be able to use the points to get to connecting city for international travel.
