I used my Amex Plat for peace of mind and 1x points. They give accident/return protection on whatever you buy for sometime, and 1 extra year of warranty on stuff. In my case, I was faxing my card details to all the vendors, so I just didnt want to use a card that gave too basic of a protection against fraud. So dont just get carried along with the extra spending

Congratulations again!

I'm currently planning mine.

I'll be hosting my reception at a hotel. Will that charge be coded as a restaurant, hotel or other? This charge will be hefty (at least to me) so how do I maximize the rewards?

I'm already spreading the rest of my spending (honeymoon, rings, etc) on my recent A-o-R cards (Citi AA, BoA/BoH)

Most likely as a hotel. Ask your contact in the catering department if the credit card transaction will be run through the hotel's account.

Does the hotel have a chain affiliation?

Fairmont.

I would have signed up for the Chase Fairmont card but there aren't that many hotels in my desired travel destinations.
